Fortnite: Save the World Now Free-to-Play for All Players

Fortnite: Save the World became free-to-play for all players on April 16 (US time), as announced by Epic Games. The update also marks the mode's debut on Nintendo Switch 2.

Players who pre-registered, as well as existing players, can claim their respective bonuses. A new crossover quest connecting Save the World and Battle Royale has also launched, allowing players to earn rewards in both modes — including a Super Shredder blueprint for Save the World and the "Jess" costume.

Fortnite originally launched in 2017 as Save the World — a cooperative PvE campaign blending action and base-building mechanics — before Battle Royale was ever introduced. Players construct bases, craft weapons, and fend off waves of monsters in a cooperative experience that plays out differently each time.
