Fruiche Celebrates 50th Anniversary with Special "Dream 3 MIX!" Flavor

House Foods Corporation is releasing "Fruiche" <Dream Special 3 MIX! Strawberry × Peach × Orange> on Monday, January 12, 2026 (national holiday), at supermarkets nationwide to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the long-selling "Fruiche" brand in March 2026. This special edition allows customers to enjoy all three of the original flavors launched in 1976—"Strawberry," "Peach," and "Orange"—at once. The product contains 150g and has a suggested retail price of 236 yen (before tax).

Features

(1) A "Dream Flavor" Combining the Original 1976 Flavors: Strawberry, Peach, and Orange

When "Fruiche" launched in March 1976, fruit-filled desserts were still rare, making it a special treat that children admired. To celebrate the 50th anniversary, House Foods is fulfilling the greedy dream of "wanting to eat all three flavors at once!" with this new product.

"Fruiche Dream Special 3 MIX!" combines the three original flavors—"Strawberry," "Peach," and "Orange"—in a well-balanced blend. Simply mixing the three flavors together would cause each taste to cancel out the others, so the company carefully crafted the formula. The strawberry flavor spreads first as the main taste, followed by the juicy sensation of peach with each bite. Orange's gentle sweetness remains as the base, creating a harmonious and well-balanced flavor where all three fruits complement each other.

(2) A Special Taste with Three Types of Fruit Pieces—A First in Fruiche History!

For the first time in Fruiche's 50-year history, three types of fruit pieces—"strawberry pulp," "white peach pulp," and "mandarin orange pulp"—are included in a single product. This truly special Fruiche commemorates the 50th anniversary.

Development Story

①Background of Fruiche's Birth Leading to Its 50th Anniversary in 2026

"Fruiche" was born in 1976 from House Foods' desire to "deliver a dessert that can be made safely without using fire, by parents and children together, or even by children alone." As a handmade dessert requiring only the simple step of mixing with milk, Fruiche has enhanced various occasions, from family time with small children to adults enjoying their alone time.

As a brand that has walked alongside customers for 50 years, the company has continuously conducted research and development, constantly updating to deliver "joy and surprise" in line with customer needs and changing times.

②Realizing Greedy Dreams with a Product Commemorating Fruiche's 50th Anniversary

While brainstorming ideas for 50th-anniversary initiatives and products, the team considered creating a project that both today's children and adults who were once children could enjoy with childlike hearts. Among customer memories and episodes with Fruiche, many comments mentioned "Fruiche was a reward for my childhood self" (the launch price was 150 yen compared to the average starting salary for male college graduates of 94,300 yen at the time*). This led to the idea: "Wouldn't it be wonderful to create a greedy product where you can enjoy all three original flavors at once?" The company developed this product with 50 years of gratitude, hoping customers can enjoy it with memories from that time or make new discoveries.

③For All Fruiche-Loving Customers to Enjoy

The company hopes not only children but also adults who ate Fruiche as children can enjoy this product with childlike hearts.

They also encourage customers to enjoy it at home parties or family celebrations.

④50 Years Ago, the Fruiche Development Research Staff Gave Their Seal of Approval! Special 3 MIX Pursuing Flavor Unity!

During development, the team focused on creating a harmonious flavor while maintaining each fruit's characteristics. Strawberry and orange both have strong acidity, which could result in disjointed flavors depending on the blend. However, by making strawberry's sweet-and-sour taste and peach's mellow flavor the main components, while using orange to enhance the overall depth, they achieved a well-balanced flavor.

The package design and product name express the 50th-anniversary celebration with a bright red package decorated with party imagery. To convey the "excitement of eating three flavors at once," they adopted the playful name "Dream Special 3 MIX!"

The completed product was tasted by a research staff member who developed Fruiche in 1976 (now retired), who gave it their seal of approval, saying, "It's interesting and delicious how the three flavors are mixed!"

Fruiche's 50-Year History

As a brand that has walked alongside customers for 50 years, Fruiche has continuously conducted research and development, constantly updating to deliver "joy and surprise" in line with customer needs and changing times. Over 30 types of Fruiche have been released, and here are some highlights:

Born in 1976 with the Desire to "Create a Dessert Children Can Make Safely"

"Fruiche" was born in 1976. The name combines "Fruit" with "Dolce," the Italian word for sweets.

At the time, most dessert products required cooking with fire, so development began with the desire to "deliver a dessert that can be made safely without using fire, by parents and children together, or even by children alone." The product used long-term preservation technology, which was novel at the time. As a handmade dessert requiring only the simple step of mixing with milk, Fruiche has enhanced various occasions, from family time with small children to adults enjoying their alone time.

Various Flavors Released Over the Years

The company has developed various flavors to match customer preferences and trends. Products included "Fruiche Asia" to match the Asian dessert trend, "Fruiche C no Kajitsu" with vitamin C, "Vegetable Fruiche" with vegetables, and "Fruiche Light" with reduced calories compared to regular Fruiche. Standard products have also been renewed every few years.

Different Types of Fruiche: "Frozen" and "Drinkable"

Beyond the standard "mix with milk and it sets" version, the company has also released frozen types and drinkable types of Fruiche.

Food Scene Diversification: "Rich" Series for Adults

With increasing households without children and single-person households, the company planned products that could be enjoyed not only by children but by various age groups, hoping to be a brand loved by all. In 2014, they launched the "Rich" series as adult-oriented Fruiche.

Adults have enjoyed it in their own ways, such as "eating the whole bowl at once—a childhood dream come true!" or using it at home parties. In fact, about 40% of Fruiche purchases are by adults buying for themselves.

"Regional Fruit Fruiche" Supporting Production Areas and Addressing Social Issues

In 2025, the company released "Regional Fruit Fruiche" as a new series where customers can enjoy the deliciousness of regional fruits from around Japan while supporting production areas. The series offers the taste of domestic fruits and Fruiche's characteristic smooth texture. A portion of sales is used to fund initiatives supporting production areas, so enjoying each region's fruit contributes to supporting those areas.
