A new ice cream, Nangoku Shirokuma Monaka Chocolate, is arriving from GODIVA Japan (Minato-ku, Tokyo). It goes on sale first at GODIVA Kagoshima Yamakataya and GODIVA Miyazaki Yamakataya from Wednesday, July 29, 2026, followed by a wider release at select GODIVA shops nationwide and the GODIVA Online Shop from Wednesday, August 5.
The new ice cream was created through a collaboration with Seika Foods Co., Ltd., a Kagoshima-based confectionery maker founded in 1903 (Meiji 36).
Nangoku Shirokuma Monaka Chocolate
This monaka-style take on GODIVA's Nangoku Shirokuma Chocolate pairs a mandarin orange and pineapple mix sauce inside the monaka shell with a rich Belgian chocolate ice cream, topped with raspberry sauce and condensed milk sauce. The result is a flavor that brings together the fruity sweetness of Nangoku Shirokuma with GODIVA's signature deep, full-bodied chocolate.
Shirokuma shaved ice, a beloved taste of summer in Kagoshima, is a cold dessert made from condensed milk shaved ice topped with fruit and sweet red beans. Seika Foods Co., Ltd. has been making this condensed milk shaved ice under the name Nangoku Shirokuma since around 1969 (Showa 44), selling it from Kagoshima to the rest of Japan.

For this product, we worked hard to balance the flavor of the chocolate with the taste of the condensed milk. After many rounds of trial and error, we arrived at a product where you can enjoy the combination of chocolate, condensed milk, and fruit together. It also makes a great treat to enjoy for yourself.
