Hamamatsu Marriott Hotel Opens in Shizuoka Prefecture

Hamamatsu Marriott Hotel has opened in Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, representing the Marriott brand's long-awaited debut in the city. The property is a collaboration between Marriott International and Hotel Management International (HMI Hotel Group), transforming the former Grand Hotel Hamamatsu into a modern destination built around Marriott's global standards of service and design. Following the rebrand of Kobe Marriott Hotel in December last year, this opening is part of a broader partnership between the two companies to integrate seven properties in Japan into Marriott's global network, giving guests broader access to the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program.

A New Landmark for Hamamatsu

Located near Hamamatsu Station and its bus terminal, the hotel sits in an area home to global corporate headquarters and major industrial facilities, making it a convenient base for both business and leisure travelers. Easy access to the Tokaido Shinkansen puts Tokyo and Osaka within approximately 1.5 hours. Mount Fuji Shizuoka Airport is approximately 50 km away (within one hour by car), while Chubu Centrair International Airport is approximately 100 km away.

The surrounding area offers a range of natural and cultural attractions. Lake Hamana is known for its tranquil waters and local eel cuisine, while the Enshu-nada Coast features expansive sand dunes and ocean views. Hamamatsu Castle and its surrounding park provide a window into the city's history, and the Musical Instrument Museum of Hamamatsu reflects its legacy as a city of music. Nakatajima Sand Dunes, celebrated for their wind-sculpted patterns, round out the variety of experiences available nearby.

Design Concept: Aesthetics of Weaving

The hotel's design concept, "Aesthetics of Weaving," draws on Hamamatsu's heritage as a center of the textile industry and its identity as a city of music. Layered textures, premium materials, and subtle industrial elements reminiscent of a loom's structure come together throughout the interior to create a distinctive sense of place.

All 236 guest rooms and suites are designed to balance comfort and functionality for both business and leisure travelers, fitted with modern amenities. Color palettes across rooms and public spaces draw on the tranquil blues of Lake Hamana and the golden sands of the Enshu-nada Coast, creating an atmosphere described as an urban oasis.

Dining

Hamamatsu Marriott Hotel offers a range of dining experiences, from international cuisine to traditional Japanese dishes. All-day dining restaurant Rochester highlights locally sourced ingredients alongside dishes from around the world, offering a lively atmosphere throughout the day. Inanba serves Japanese cuisine including shabu-shabu and teppanyaki, with a broad menu covering diverse styles. Kaiseki restaurant Choutokan presents seasonal ingredients in refined, meticulously arranged dishes, providing an elegant dining experience reflective of Japanese culinary tradition.

Facilities

The M Club provides exclusive services and benefits for Marriott Bonvoy elite members and guests staying in premium rooms. A fitness center equipped with up-to-date equipment is also available for guests.

For meetings and events, the hotel offers 13 multi-purpose banquet and meeting rooms spanning a total of 4,053 square meters. The spaces can accommodate a wide range of gatherings, from corporate events to weddings and social occasions, supported by an experienced planning team and modern technology.
