HandMade In Japan Fes' Makes Its First-Ever Osaka Debut This December

HandMade In Japan Fes' (HMJ), one of Japan's largest creator festivals, will hold its first-ever Osaka edition at INTEX Osaka in Suminoe Ward on Saturday, December 12 and Sunday, December 13, 2026.

Advance tickets are now on sale through various ticket agencies.

Official Website

HandMade In Japan Fes' is a large-scale event where creators from across Japan gather to exhibit and sell their original works. It launched at Tokyo Big Sight in 2013 and has been held twice a year — in summer and winter — since 2019, reaching 19 editions to date. Attendance from Japan and abroad has continued to grow, with the most recent edition recording the highest turnout since the COVID-19 pandemic began in 2020. Building on this momentum, HMJ is expanding nationwide for the first time, and this Osaka event marks the first installment of that expansion.

The venue will be lined with booths from 1,700 creators selected through a public call for entries*, showcasing fashion items such as accessories and bags alongside interior goods, kitchenware, art, tableware, and handicrafts. The event also features 35 types of hands-on workshops led by traditional craftspeople and popular creators, live music and comedy stage shows by notable artists, and a selection of handpicked homemade food. Through this variety of content and experiences available only here, visitors can experience creativity with all five senses over the two-day event.

*Total number of exhibiting creators across both days. According to the organizer, this is the largest single-day booth count among craft events held in western Japan in 2026.

[Christmas Special Edition] A Special Area for One-of-a-Kind Gifts, With Custom Orders and Gift Wrapping Available

Taking place during the Christmas season, this edition includes a special "Christmas Special Edition" program. A dedicated area near the venue entrance will feature Christmas-ready works made especially for HMJ by creators from across Japan, including wreaths, ornaments, and other gift ideas for loved ones. Many exhibiting creators will also offer custom orders and gift-wrapping services, letting visitors consult directly with the makers to choose or personalize a gift for someone special — resulting in a one-of-a-kind present only available through creators' work.

Items for welcoming the New Year will also be on display, including kagami mochi made of glass or wood and shimekazari wreaths designed for two-way use from Christmas through the New Year.

Japan is home to countless creators with world-class talent and skill, and HMJ continues to grow as a place to experience the individuality, uniqueness, and craftsmanship behind "HandMade In Japan," helping expand the country's craft culture even further.
