Shanghai Saikan Chinese Restaurant at Highland Resort Reopens as Multi-Functional Private Dining

Shanghai Saikan, the Chinese restaurant located inside Highland Resort Hotel & Spa at the foot of Mount Fuji in Fujiyoshida, Yamanashi, has reopened on Friday, April 10, 2026 as a fully-reservation-required, all-private-room restaurant under a new "multi-functional private dining" concept.

Marking the hotel's 40th anniversary, the restaurant has been renovated to serve a wider range of guests across diverse occasions. The renewed Shanghai Saikan now offers five private rooms totaling 110 seats — from a cozy 4-seat room ideal for anniversary dinners to the 48-seat Ouka room suited for large gatherings. The restaurant welcomes families celebrating special occasions, business dining, private dinners, and international visitors alike. The menu centers on course meals incorporating authentic Chinese dishes such as shark fin and Peking duck, with a lunch course option also available.

Multi-Functional Private Dining

The main feature of Shanghai Saikan is its variety of private rooms, which can accommodate everything from small personal gatherings to business meetings and MICE events. The largest room seats up to 48 guests, making it suitable for large banquets.

  • Ouka (桜花) (48 seats) — ideal for farewell/welcome parties and large events
  • Renka (蓮花) (36 seats) — versatile for business meetings, dining, and family gatherings
  • Botan (牡丹) (12 seats) and Suisen (水仙) (10 seats) — suited for celebratory occasions and small dining parties
  • Toka (桃花) (4 seats) — perfect for anniversary dinners and private meals with close friends
