Hita Illuminage 2026, an illumination event making its Kyushu debut, will be held for 93 days from Saturday, October 31, 2026 to Sunday, January 31, 2027, at the Sapporo Breweries Kyushu Hita Plant in Hita City, Oita Prefecture. The event is organized by the Hita Illuminage Executive Committee.

Kyushu Debut: The Sapporo Breweries Kyushu Hita Plant Turns Into a World of Light
A new winter illumination spot is coming to Hita City, Oita Prefecture. Set in a venue surrounded by abundant nature, colorful illuminations transform the nighttime scenery. This year's theme is "Kyushu Debut: Chapter of Light" (九州初上陸・光の章). Visitors can stroll through light-filled areas, each with its own theme, and enjoy fantastical scenery that changes one after another. Not only looking, but also walking, playing, and touching the light are part of what makes this event special.
Six Highlight Areas
Corridor Tunnel (回廊トンネル): A Fantastical Corridor Wrapped in Light

Countless lights stretch from overhead to underfoot in this fantastical corridor tunnel. Layers of warm gold light line the way, creating a space that draws visitors deeper into a world of light the further they go.

Space Plaza (宇宙広場): A Journey Through Stars and Planets

Enjoying Winter in Hita Through the Light
Hita Illuminage 2026 is an illumination event that aims to create a new tourism attraction for winter in Hita. Hita City, Oita Prefecture, has a wide range of tourism resources, including Mamedamachi, which retains the atmosphere of the Edo period, Hita Onsen, abundant nature, and local food culture.
The event proposes a new winter travel style: enjoying Hita's townscape, hot springs, and local food during the day, and taking in the fantastical illuminations at night.
Over the 93-day run, the event aims to attract not only Hita residents but also visitors from within Oita Prefecture and nearby areas such as Fukuoka Prefecture, extending visitors' stays and encouraging them to visit restaurants, accommodations, and other facilities in the city.
