The "Riverside Kitchen & Bar" at Hotel Indigo Hakone Gora (Kiga, Hakone-machi, Ashigarashimo-gun, Kanagawa) is hosting a limited-time promotion called "Early Summer Creations" from June 1, 2026. The lineup features unique, spicy summer cocktails designed to take the edge off the summer heat.
The promotion brings together 11 original cocktails built around themes of bold heat and refreshing flavor. Spirits include ABSOLUT® TABASCO™ Vodka (made with aged red chili essence from TABASCO®), "奏 Kanade (Matcha)" — a Japanese craft liqueur highlighting the appeal of traditional matcha — and premium tequila CODIGO Blanco.
Beyond the kick of shichimi togarashi and TABASCO® Vodka, the menu also features distinctive cocktails accented with Japanese tsukemono (pickled vegetables). The collection offers a full evening's worth of surprises and discoveries for a night out in Hakone.
The matcha cocktails showcase "奏 Kanade (Matcha)," a Japanese craft liqueur that captures the rich aroma and deep umami of domestically grown matcha. Combined with gin, rum, and grapefruit, the result is a vivid, refreshing green cocktail perfectly suited to summer.
Drawing on the hotel's international guest profile, the menu fuses traditional Japanese ingredients — shichimi togarashi, tsukemono, and matcha — with Western spirits like vodka, tequila, and gin. It is a cocktail experience unique to this venue, where Japanese character and contemporary creativity come together.
The cocktails can be enjoyed at the lively bar counter while chatting with the bartender, or sipped while soaking in a foot bath as the Hakone night breeze drifts by. From sunset into the evening, when the day's heat fades, the open-air setting invites guests to relax in harmony with the surrounding nature.

Hotel Indigo Hakone Gora's Neighborhood Hosts share local culture and history with guests, offering stories and experiences that go beyond what any search engine can surface. Through close connections with the local community, the hotel provides guests with one-of-a-kind experiences such as the Somei Yoshino and weeping cherry blossom avenue along the Hayakawa River, the Yutate Shishimai (sacred fire lion dance) on July 15, the Miyagino Summer Festival "Mushiokuri Fire Festival" in August, and the Hakone Gora Daimonji bonfire event.
The Hakone Daimonji can be viewed alongside simultaneous fireworks from the hotel's riverside restaurant and guest rooms. Guests can enjoy Hakone's full seasonal palette: cherry blossoms along the Hayakawa River, autumn leaves on Mt. Myojogatake (the Daimonji mountain), and the pampas grass highlands of Sengokuhara. In winter, a relaxing new style of hot spring retreat awaits, with thermal baths to ease away the cold and wintry Hakone scenery to savor.
At Riverside Kitchen & Bar, the chef commands open flames at the center of the dining room, serving an array of bold grilled dishes. The wood-fire cooking uses thinned cypress and oak, whose smoke adds depth of flavor to meat and fish. Premium meats, fresh seafood from nearby fishing ports, and lovingly grown local vegetables are all featured on the menu. Inside a refined space colored by the restaurant's artwork, guests can fully immerse in a feast of flame, aroma, and fresh ingredients.
