Village Kyoto Completes Full Hotel Renovation, Adding Tea-Making and Local Sake Experiences

Village Kyoto (ヴィラージュ京都), a 79-room hotel in Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto, completed a phased renovation of the entire building in September 2026.

Since opening in 2008, the hotel has updated its facilities and services to keep pace with the times. The long-term renovation, which began in 2025, was carried out to respond to the growing number of visitors to Japan and a variety of stay styles. It covered not only the guest rooms but also the lobby, elevator halls, corridors, and the large bath. Alongside the facility upgrades, the hotel has started offering experiences that convey the character of Kyoto, such as a tea-making experience and a local Kyoto sake service. In September 2026, the renovation of common areas including the lobby and the large bath was completed, and the hotel reopened as an experience-oriented hotel where guests can enjoy Kyoto's culture and atmosphere with all five senses.

Renovation from Guest Rooms to Common Areas

Every guest room is now a Japanese-Western style room with beds. The designer Japanese-style rooms, inspired by the design of Kyo-machiya (traditional Kyoto townhouses), have beds set on tatami mats. Plumbing areas were also renovated to improve comfort, and elegant Kyoto-style interiors give the rooms a Kyoto feel.

The lobby has been refurbished into a bright, calm space with Japanese-modern touches. Local Kyoto sake is served in the lobby as a welcome drink, and the front counter, which encourages conversation with hotel staff, helps guests relax from the moment they arrive. Noren curtains and lighting effects have been added to the elevator halls and common areas on each floor, so guests can feel a Kyoto atmosphere even on the way to their rooms. The artificial hot-spring large bath has new lockers and washing facilities.
