Hotel Metropolitan Ikebukuro (1-6-1 Nishi-Ikebukuro, Toshima-ku) is holding its first Kagoshima-themed restaurant event, the "Treasure Chest of the South: Kagoshima Fair," from Tuesday, May 12 to Tuesday, June 30, 2026. The fair takes place at two Japanese dining venues on the hotel's second floor: Japanese Restaurant "Hanamusashi" and Japanese Kitchen & Bar "Shunka."

The event showcases Kagoshima Prefecture's distinctive ingredients and local dishes. Guests who order from the Kagoshima Fair menu are also invited to try on a helmet modeled after baseball star Shohei Ohtani. The piece is produced by Marutake Industries Co., Ltd., a samurai armor manufacturer based in Satsumasendai City, Kagoshima Prefecture, which holds the top national market share in armor production. The helmet weighs just under 2 kg and has a retail price of ¥330,000.
