Beach season has arrived, and Kaga City is home to three beaches, each with its own distinct character. All three are only about 10 to 25 minutes by car from the hot spring town of Kaga Onsen, making them an easy add-on to a soak in the springs. This summer, visitors can swim, eat, and play to their heart's content at the Kaga coast, with plenty of sightseeing spots nearby too.
Katano Beach: A Long Stretch of White Sand
Backed by a green pine grove, Katano Beach is a beautiful, open stretch of white sand that runs 3.8 kilometers all the way to Shioya Coast.
It's an ideal spot for anyone who wants to slow down and escape the everyday noise. On clear days, the scenic coastline of Fukui Prefecture can even be seen far across the water.
One beach house sits along the shore, offering showers and rentals such as swim rings (all for a fee).

About 120 meters from the beach stands a cluster of unusual rock formations known as "Chōja Yashiki Ato" (Ruins of the Wealthy Man's Estate), where pottery fragments believed to date from the Nara period have been found. It's worth a short walk over for a bit of an exploring mood.

Kurosaki Beach: A Hidden Cove for Exploring
About a five-minute walk from the free parking area, a bright blue sea suddenly opens up in front of visitors, drawing gasps of admiration. With its secluded, almost undiscovered feel, Kurosaki Beach has the atmosphere of a private cove. Alongside the sandy shore is a wide rocky area where kids can search for crabs and small fish.
One beach house sits along the shore, offering showers and rentals such as swim rings (all for a fee). Grilled turban shell and rock oysters are also available there.

Hashidate Beach: Great for a Seaside Meal Too
A compact beach with calm waves, Hashidate Beach looks out toward the scenic Amagozen Cape.
Freshly caught seafood can be enjoyed at the beach house, and with several other restaurants nearby, there's no shortage of lunch options — a spot that satisfies even seafood-loving adults. Small boats can also be seen coming and going from the harbor offshore.

About a 10-minute walk away is the scenic Amagozen Cape, and visitors can even reach a highway expressway service area on foot from here.

Each beach also holds a variety of events throughout the season, and some beach houses stay open into the evening. Since details are updated regularly, checking the official websites and social media accounts before a visit is recommended.
Enjoy a fun summer in the Kaga Onsen area.
