Karuizawa Asama Golf Course, located in Minami Karuizawa, Kitasaku District, Nagano Prefecture, begins its 2026 season on Saturday, April 4, 2026. New this year is an "Onsen & Afternoon Tea Plan" that pairs a full round of golf with a hot spring bath and afternoon tea at the hotel restaurant — a combination designed to elevate the experience from a round of golf to a full day resort outing.
Golf in Japan has been evolving beyond purely competitive play. More people are taking to the course as couples or in pairs, and there is growing interest in what comes after the round: dining, relaxation, and a sense of place. Karuizawa Asama Golf Course is leaning into this shift. The 2026 season plan lets guests finish their 18 holes, soak in a hot spring with views of Mt. Asama, and then settle in for afternoon tea — bringing golf, onsen, and food together in one experience.

The course operates as a two-some-only layout, meaning all rounds are played in groups of two. This keeps the pace of play smooth and gives rounds a more private, relaxed feel. The 18-hole course stretches across highland terrain at roughly 1,000 meters above sea level, with a layout that welcomes beginners while still engaging more experienced players. Ride-on carts with fairway access are available throughout the course.
Access is straightforward: the course is about 8 minutes (5.6 km) by car from the Usui Karuizawa Interchange on the Joshin-etsu Expressway, and a free shuttle bus runs from Karuizawa Station on the Hokuriku Shinkansen in approximately 20 minutes.
The course sits within Prince Grand Resort Karuizawa, a larger resort complex that includes hotels and other leisure facilities. Between the adjacent Karuizawa Asama Prince Hotel and the surrounding resort amenities, it is set up for an overnight stay that combines golf with accommodation, dining, and sightseeing.
