To mark the 10th anniversary of its opening, Kyoto Railway Museum will put the "Yoshitsune" (built in 1880) on display beside the SL Steam Locomotive track. The "Yoshitsune" is the oldest steam locomotive in the museum's collection and is designated a railway monument. Ahead of the display, the locomotive will also be brought out of the roundhouse and given a test run beside the SL Steam Locomotive track.
*A "railway monument" is a designation created under the Railway Monument Protection Regulations established during the Japanese National Railways era, given to items of high historical and cultural value or those essential to understanding the history of railways, so that they can be carefully preserved for the long term.
