On October 17 (Saturday) and October 18 (Sunday), 2026, the Kyoto International Manga Museum hosts "Kyoto Game Daisakusen" (京都ゲーム大作戦), an event where visitors can play original games created by students of Kyoto Seika University and others.
Games are entertainment built on active engagement with people, and at the same time they play a part in the evolution and expansion of manga. With the Kyoto International Manga Museum, a hub for spreading manga culture, as the venue, the event creates a place where the creators of the next generation can interact directly with visitors and gain feedback that fuels their future work.
BitSummit, one of Japan's largest indie game events, is held every year at Miyako Messe and puts effort into nurturing next-generation creators. This year, BitSummit Game Jam 2026, a development event where students aspiring to become game developers create original games within a limited time, was held again. A new XR category was added this year, and an even wider variety of works have been created.
The exhibition is a project launched by volunteer students and faculty members of Kyoto Seika University and Kyoto University of the Arts. Visitors can try out games from nine teams that joined the exhibition as volunteers from BitSummit Game Jam 2026. Players can enjoy the free ideas of young creators and the appeal of new forms of game expression firsthand.
Some of the setting materials and presentation materials that matter in game development are also on display. In addition, a roundtable talk by the students looking back on BitSummit Game Jam will be held.
