TOMIX, the model train brand from Takara Tomy Group's Tomytec, marks its 50th anniversary this year. Kyoto Railway Museum will hold a valuable history exhibition looking back on its journey so far.

TOMIX's signature modular layout recreates scenes such as a Shinkansen running through townscapes and mountainous terrain, with model trains running through it.
New Products and History Exhibition
Alongside upcoming new releases, the exhibition displays representative products sold over the past 50 years, letting visitors compare how the same type of rolling stock has changed across different release periods.
Magazine Ads and Catalog Gallery
A selection of cover images from the 46 catalogs produced over the past 50 years is on display, along with panels introducing magazine ads for representative products.
Umekoji Depot / Kyoto Freight Station Recreated Layout
Using TOMIX's extensive range of rail products, the layout recreates the track configuration around Kyoto Railway Museum as closely as possible.
Driving Experience Corner
Enjoy operating model trains. Please note that time limits may be set depending on conditions.

Museum staff introduce the enjoyment of model railways from their own perspective, aimed at those just starting out.
Weekend Workshops During the Event
Workshops will also be held on weekends and holidays during the event.

1. Build a Rolling Stock Depot Rail Set!
Recreate the rolling stock depot area from Kyoto Railway Museum's Main Building 1F with a rail set, assembled with guidance from Tomytec staff. Enjoy creating your own siding display.
Times: ① 11:00 AM ② 2:00 PM (each session runs about 45 minutes)
How to join: Purchase a ticket sold through Asoview (details will be announced later on the museum's website).
Sales period: From 4:30 PM on Friday, August 21 to 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 23
Price: 9,800 yen (museum admission ticket sold separately)
Quantities are limited, and tickets cannot be canceled after purchase.
2. Design Your Own TOMIX Freight Car!
Decorate a specially made all-white TOMIX freight car with your own original design, then run it on the driving-experience layout in the special exhibition room and enjoy taking photos. A Kyoto Railway Museum 10th-anniversary clear file is included as well.

- ③ 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM (ticket sales until 2:30 PM; entry until 2:40 PM)
- ④ 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM (ticket sales until 4:00 PM; entry until 4:10 PM)
Choose one of the four time slots above when purchasing your ticket. The number of tickets sold for each time slot is limited, so you may not be able to join your preferred slot.
How to join: Purchase an experience ticket sold from 10:00 AM at the plush-toy lottery counter on Main Building 1F, then head to the venue.
