Matsue Excel Hotel Tokyu Serves Up an Autumn Dinner Buffet With Saury Sasazushi, Oden, and Seasonal Sweets

Matsue Excel Hotel Tokyu (Matsue, Shimane; General Manager: Yasunori Takanashi) is hosting an "Autumn Dinner Buffet" from Saturday, September 19 through Wednesday, November 25, 2026.

The lineup brings back popular dishes such as a sirloin steak seared to order at the live kitchen, along with fan-favorite oden and トンポーロー (slow-simmered pork belly), plus a mini oyako-don topped with salmon and salmon roe. Seasonal ingredients such as fall eggplant, mushrooms, sweet potato, chestnut, pumpkin, and fig also appear throughout the dishes and desserts.

With a mix of familiar favorites and dishes that capture the season, spanning both Japanese and Western styles, the Autumn Dinner Buffet suits a dinner with family or friends -- or simply an evening spent treating yourself a little more than usual.

Salmon and Ikura Mini Oyako-Don, and Saury Sasazushi

The mini oyako-don pairs the rich flavor of salmon with salmon roe that bursts pleasantly in the mouth, arranged in a colorful presentation. Despite its small size, the dish lets guests enjoy the contrasting flavors and textures of salmon and salmon roe together. Also on offer is saury sasazushi, made by wrapping seasonal Pacific saury in bamboo leaf -- a dish whose gentle bamboo fragrance carries a distinctly autumn flavor.

Seasonal Sweets

A full lineup of desserts made with autumn ingredients such as chestnut, sweet potato, pumpkin, and fig is on offer. Among them, the chestnut shortcake stands out, pairing the mellow sweetness of chestnut with a light, airy texture for a taste that captures the season. From the meal through dessert, guests can savor the flavors of autumn to their heart's content.

Freshly Grilled Sirloin Steak, Oden, and トンポーロー From the Live Kitchen

The highlight of the buffet is a sirloin steak, seared one portion at a time at the live kitchen. Served in a satisfying size, it offers the aroma and juicy flavor unique to a freshly grilled steak. Guests can enjoy it as many times as they like, choosing between two sauces to suit their taste.

Warming Oden, a Fan Favorite

Also on offer is the ever-popular oden, simmered until the ingredients are infused with rich flavor for a comforting taste. Guests can enjoy classic ingredients such as daikon radish and egg, along with a warm dish to have as much as they like on a cool autumn evening.

Tender, Melt-in-the-Mouth トンポーロー

Pork belly is slow-simmered until meltingly tender, resulting in a rich, deeply flavorful dish. Guests can enjoy its smooth texture along with a satisfying depth of flavor.
