Fashion Art Blending Paris and Minato City's Flowering Dogwood to Go on Display at Roppongi Hills From October 31, 2026

A fashion art piece that brings together the "City of Flowers" Paris and the flowering dogwood (ハナミズキ) of Minato City will go on display at the Hollywood Beauty Plaza in Roppongi Hills, Tokyo. The exhibition is timed to coincide with Roppongi Art Night 2026 (六本木アートナイト2026).

Minato City created the piece to share its exchange with the 15th arrondissement of Paris, one of its international friendship cities, by expressing the culture and sensibilities of both cities. The work was designed by 種井小百合, a designer active in Minato City, with floral decoration by Miyuki Nakajima (中島みゆき), an artist active in Paris. It was made by students of the Fashion Arts Department (服飾芸術科) at Toita Women's College (戸板女子短期大学), who study fashion in Minato City.

Through this collaboration between creators with ties to both cities and students who will shape the next generation, the project presents a new form of cultural exchange between Minato City and the 15th arrondissement of Paris.

The Goddess of Flowers From Paris and the Flowering Dogwood of Minato City

The piece is titled "Flora: Threads of the City" (フローラ 都市の糸). Its motifs are Flora, the Roman goddess of flowers, who is imagined as a figure of Paris, the "City of Flowers," and the flowering dogwood, a symbol of Minato City.

The work uses cotton mosquito-net fabric (綿蚊帳生地), a traditional Japanese material, and combines it with French techniques. The result is a goddess figure that wears the culture and memories of both Japan and France.
