Montagna sacra Lifestyle Brand Debuts with Titanium Sake Cups from Precision Machining Experts

Brand Concept: Bringing Nature's Bounty to Everyday Life

Montagna sacra (meaning "sacred mountain" in Italian) is a lifestyle brand launched by Frasco Co., Ltd., a precision machining professional company. Founded in 1971, Frasco is based in Saijo City, Ehime Prefecture, in the Shikoku region. The company manufactures precision machine parts and wanted to create lifestyle products that leverage their advanced equipment and highly skilled craftsmanship in difficult cutting processes.

Saijo City, where Montagna sacra is located, is surrounded by Mount Ishizuchi—the highest peak in western Japan—and the Seto Inland Sea. The brand expresses gratitude for the natural blessings of their hometown and creates modern lifestyle products together with people who love manufacturing, centered in their local region. Through Montagna sacra's activities, they deliver admiration for their hometown and the wonder of craftsmanship.

Lifestyle Products Born from Sacred Mountain Blessings and Unique Technology

Frasco Co., Ltd., the parent company of Montagna sacra, is located at the foot of Mount Ishizuchi, and the majestic mountain scenery can be seen from the company building. The underground water from the Ishizuchi mountain range is known as "Uchinuki water" and has been selected as one of Japan's top 100 famous waters. This soft, pure water is an essential ingredient for local sake brewing. Local people have loved Mount Ishizuchi as a "sacred mountain" through ancient mountain worship and continue to carefully protect these blessings.

The brand chose the everyday "sacred mountain" as its name. They decided to create a sake cup as a lifestyle product that combines the blessings of the sacred mountain with their advanced precision cutting technology, with Mount Ishizuchi as the motif.

Hand finishing process for cut products essential to precise reproduction

The titanium sake cup, with its impressive design of Mount Ishizuchi rising inside the cup, was born from the design concept of "making the sake cup a landscape of our hometown."

They succeeded in precisely reproducing the sacred mountain "Ishizuchi," which watches over the local people with its majestic appearance, by converting 3D topographic contour line data from the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan. The sake cup shape was chosen as a flat sake cup (hirazakauki) that anyone would envision, with the 3D Mount Ishizuchi carefully positioned inside for balance.

Titanium is known as a lightweight material with high temperature resistance and excellent corrosion resistance. However, it is also a difficult-to-cut material. Titanium's characteristics of low thermal conductivity and high strength cause the cutting area to reach high temperatures and increase tool wear. It also deforms easily during cutting, requiring high technical skill to achieve precision. The hand finishing of titanium cutting products is work where the highly skilled craftsmanship of experienced workers shines, including their accumulated experience and sharp intuition.

As a human-safe material unlikely to cause allergic reactions, it can be used with peace of mind. Titanium is resistant to acids and alkalis, is rust-resistant with almost no chemical reactions occurring. The titanium sake cup prevents metallic odors and component migration to beverages, allowing you to enjoy the original taste of your drink.
