A shabu-shabu and sukiyaki restaurant in Saga City is making a bold seasonal pivot this summer. なべ家和元, operated by Kibun Co., Ltd. in Yamato-machi, Saga City, will begin offering a summer-limited shaved ice menu starting Saturday, June 27, 2026.

The restaurant, which has built its reputation on hot-pot cuisine for celebratory occasions like birthdays, wedding anniversaries, and milestone dinners, is expanding beyond the traditional "nabe restaurant" identity. Under the philosophy of "making everyone connected through food feel happy," the team is introducing kakigori as a way to welcome guests throughout the warmer months too.

Six Artisan Kakigori Varieties

The shaved ice at なべ家和元 is crafted with snow-like, fine-textured ice and topped with airy espuma cream, giving each serving the visual appeal of an elaborately decorated cake.

Goku Yame Matcha Kakigori (極・八女抹茶氷)

Rich, aromatic Yame matcha is used generously in this sophisticated, bittersweet adult flavor. It's a collaboration shaved ice featuring anko (red bean paste) from the popular 「よなよなあん工房」 shop.
