A Destination for the Japan Sea, Not Just a Pit Stop
Michi-no-Eki (Roadside Station) Umiterasu Nadachi, located in Nadachi Ward, Joetsu City, Niigata, is a multi-purpose tourism facility overlooking the Japan Sea. It combines a fresh seafood market, a seafood restaurant, a hot spring bath facility, and hotel accommodation all under one roof.
From June 1 (Monday) to July 17 (Friday), 2026, the facility holds the "Japan Sea Marche" (日本海マルシェ), an event spotlighting the marine bounty and scenery of the Japan Sea. Focused on the coastal areas of Niigata, Toyama, Ishikawa, and Fukui, the event brings together seafood and local specialties from the Hokuriku region. The concept goes beyond a simple product fair — visitors can "eat," "buy," "stay," and "gaze" to fully experience the Japan Sea's rich food culture and landscape.
Hokuriku Seafood and Regional Specialties on Sale
On the first floor, the "Shokusai Sengyo Ichiba" (食彩鮮魚市場) hosts a special showcase and sale of Hokuriku-region products throughout the event period.

Special menus using Japan Sea ingredients are available at two in-house dining venues: the second-floor seafood restaurant "Umi no Daidokoya" (海のだいどこや), and "Yuhi Terasu" (夕日てらす) on the second floor of the adjacent hot spring facility "Nadachi no yu Yurara."

Hotel Stay Plan with a 20% Sunset Guarantee
Adjacent Hotel Kōrin (ホテル光鱗) offers the "Sunset Suite Terrace" (サンセット・スイートテラス) stay plan, allowing guests to watch the Japan Sea sunset from the comfort of their room. Each room is fitted with reclining chairs, and guests receive rosé champagne along with an original baum kuchen called "Yuhi Baum" (夕日バウム) to enjoy while watching the sun set.
The plan comes with a sunset guarantee: if the sunset is not visible due to weather or other conditions, 20% of the accommodation fee is refunded.
