Polène Opens Its First Kansai Location at Hankyu Umeda Main Store

Paris-based leather goods brand Polène opened its first store in the Kansai region on Wednesday, May 27, at the Bag Gallery on the first floor of Hankyu Umeda Main Store. The shop carries collections born from a dialogue between designers at the Paris design studio and artisans at the atelier in Úbrique, Spain.

Polène store at Hankyu Umeda Main Store

Founded in Paris in 2016, Polène is a leather goods brand whose bags are handcrafted one by one by artisans in Úbrique, Spain. The brand is known for its distinctive, craft-driven forms inspired by close observation of nature. Techniques such as shaping leather on wooden frames, draped hand stitching, braiding, and complex origami-like patterns result in organic forms that define the brand's design aesthetic.

The Hankyu Umeda store features a custom toolbox-inspired display that embodies the maison's philosophy of leather goods craftsmanship. Set within a space evoking a leather atelier, a large wooden toolbox stands at the center, offering visitors a sense of the brand's savoir-faire. Cases crafted from compressed leather and multiple drawers showcase its attention to materials and detail, drawing visitors into the world of Polène's artistry. A curated selection of items from the collection is available in the store.

Following Hankyu Umeda Main Store, Polène is also planning to open a second store in Osaka in 2027.
