Adopting the "JW Logo" to Enhance Transparency and Trust in Japanese Whiskey

JW Logo

All five products in this series adopt the "JW Logo" established by the Japan Spirits & Liqueurs Makers Association (JSLMA) to improve Japanese whiskey recognition and customer identification both domestically and internationally.

The "JW Logo" is a certification mark established in 2021 and officially implemented in 2024, granted only to products that meet the "Voluntary Standards for Labeling Japanese Whiskey."

By displaying this logo, consumers can easily identify products manufactured in compliance with labeling standards, contributing to improving the reliability and transparency of Japanese whiskey.

Saburomaru Distillery will continue to strive for proper labeling and quality improvement, promoting honest whiskey-making.

Liu Bei

A descendant of the Han royal family and the founding emperor of Shu.

Valuing righteousness, he formed a sworn brotherhood with Guan Yu and Zhang Fei in a peach garden, running through the turbulent era with his ideals and beliefs.

Through his kindness and magnanimity, he attracted many people, including Lady Sun, and assembled renowned generals such as Zhuge Liang and Zhao Yun to establish Shu.

In his later years, he was defeated in battle against Wu and died with his ambitions unfulfilled.

This single cask expresses richness that is gentle and approachable, yet deep.

About Saburomaru Distillery

Saburomaru Distillery

Located in Tonami City, Toyama Prefecture, the distillery at Wakatsuru Shuzo began whiskey production in 1952 during post-war rice shortages that made sake brewing difficult. With funding from crowdfunding, it was renovated into a visitable distillery in 2017.

Fifth-generation president Takahiko Inagaki introduces new equipment and production innovations every year, with whiskey quality evolving dramatically year by year.

In 2019, the distillery developed, introduced, and patented "ZEMON," the world's first cast-iron pot still, attracting global attention.

The distillery has continued making extremely smoky whiskey for over 70 years, unusual among Japanese distilleries. Currently using malted barley smoked with peat from Scotland's Islay, they produce whiskey with even greater smokiness and depth of flavor.
