A limited-time exhibition facility shaped like a strawberry, inspired by Sanrio Company, Ltd.'s beloved Strawberry House, is set to open at DiverCity Tokyo Plaza in Odaiba, Tokyo, from March 6 (Friday) to July 12 (Sunday), 2026. Admission is free.
The original Strawberry House was a Sanrio-operated facility in Den-en-chofu, Tokyo, open from December 1983 to 2011. Designed to resemble the home of the Sanrio character "Button Nose," it featured a goods shop on the first floor, a restaurant and parlor on the second floor, and an event space on the third floor. The building was cherished by Sanrio fans for nearly three decades before closing due to aging of the structure.
The new installation was launched to mark the 50th anniversary of Ichigo Shimbun (Monthly Strawberry Newspaper), celebrated last year. Though smaller in scale than the original, the space brings together displays of the publication's history and immersive installations to convey Sanrio's founding philosophy of "Everyone Get Along," offering nostalgia for those who remember the original and fresh discoveries for first-time visitors.

About the Original Strawberry House

The original Strawberry House opened in December 1983 in Den-en-chofu, Tokyo, initially as a 1,000-day limited model store and showroom. Inspired by the home of the Sanrio character "Button Nose," the distinctive strawberry-shaped building quickly became a landmark for Sanrio fans. Originally planned as temporary, it was extended due to popular demand and remained open for nearly three decades. The first floor housed a goods shop; the second floor featured a parlor and restaurant with strawberry-themed tableware and décor; the third floor was a pink-themed event hall used for fan events and workshops. The facility ultimately closed in 2011 due to aging of the building.
