Sapporo Sakura Beer Launches in Limited Quantities on January 27

Sapporo Breweries Ltd., a group company of Sapporo Holdings Ltd., releases Sapporo Sakura Beer on January 27, 2026, in limited quantities.

This product revives "Sakura Beer," originally produced by Teikoku Beer Co., Ltd., which was founded in Kyushu in 1912 (Meiji 45). Production began in 1913 (Taisho 2) at Kyushu's first beer factory (Note 1), and the beer was exported to various parts of Asia, gaining international recognition. Sapporo's brewing technicians studied historical documents from that era and adapted the recipe to suit modern consumer preferences. The beer features a well-balanced flavor that combines savory richness with a crisp, refreshing finish. The can design incorporates motifs from the original Sakura Beer label on the front, while the back features a nostalgic retro-style illustration (Note 2). The illustration's circular window depicts a scenic view reminiscent of Moji Port, where the former Sapporo Beer Kyushu Factory once stood, with a woman in a cherry blossom-adorned kimono adding a touch of nostalgia and elegance.

The factory that produced "Sakura Beer" until around 1942 (Showa 17) was later taken over by Dai Nippon Beer Co., Ltd., the predecessor of Sapporo Breweries, in 1943 (Showa 18), continuing a legacy of beer production spanning 87 years until 2000 (Heisei 12) (Note 3). Enjoy the reborn Sapporo Sakura Beer, a brew cherished alongside the history of Kitakyushu City.

(Note 1) Completed in Moji Ward (formerly Moji City), Kitakyushu City. The site now operates as "Moji Red Brick Place," continuing to share beer culture and history.
(Note 2) Not from the original era.
(Note 3) The Sapporo Beer Kyushu Factory, which closed in 2000 (Heisei 12), was relocated to the current Sapporo Beer Kyushu Hita Factory in Hita City, Oita Prefecture that same year. It serves as a production base primarily supplying Kyushu and the Kinki, Chugoku, and Shikoku regions. The manufacturing facilities for this product are the Kyushu Hita Factory, Chiba Factory, and Shizuoka Factory.
