Six Senses Kyoto, located in the Higashiyama district of Kyoto, is hosting a Honey & Botanical promotion at its seasonal dining venue "Sekki" and café "Café Sekki" from June 21 to August 22, 2026. The menus feature honey and herbs cultivated on-site, with offerings that include an afternoon tea course, seasonal shaved ice desserts, and herbal drinks.
The hotel has operated a pesticide-free herb garden since before opening, growing herbs and vegetables for its dining, bar, and spa. Beekeeping was introduced to the garden in June 2025, and by June 2026 more than 110 kg of honey had been harvested. This house-produced "Higashiyama/Kyoto Raw Honey" is featured throughout the promotion, which draws on the hotel's food philosophy "Eat With Six Senses" — an approach centered on locally sourced, sustainably grown ingredients.
Honey & Botanical Afternoon Tea

The "Koyomi Afternoon Tea: Honey & Botanical Afternoon Tea" is offered at Seasonal Dining Sekki during the period spanning the summer solstice to the beginning of autumn on the traditional Japanese calendar. The menu combines sweets and savories featuring house honey and herbs — including a honey and lemon thyme mousse, oatmeal sandwiches, and white peach and mint shaved ice. Classic items like white miso scones and fermented lemon and rosemary scones are served with honey amazake cream and natsumikan honey marmalade.

Alongside parfait, shaved ice is also available.
The tea free-flow included with the set covers coffee, black tea, and assorted teas, along with original herbal teas made from herbs grown at Six Senses Kyoto.
All sweets and savories are gluten-free. The menu incorporates fermentation techniques — reflected in items such as honey amazake cream and fermented zucchini bagel sandwiches — alongside simple preparations that bring out the natural character of each ingredient.

Two Types of Shaved Ice

Matcha Shaved Ice "Sui-Kei"

Fruit Shaved Ice "Ka-Kou"
Two shaved ice desserts are available, each layered like a parfait with flavors that evolve as you work through them. Both feature herbs, spices, and fruit combined with the cooling texture of shaved ice.
Sui-Kei (翠馨)
Matcha shaved ice, jelly, and syrup are topped with a honey and red wine fig compote, herbal rice dumplings, and orange cream. A powder served alongside adds lemon brightness and coriander fragrance, bringing a new dimension to the matcha's deep flavor.
Ka-Kou (果香)
Seasonal fruit is the star: a jelly scented with Sauternes wine and lemongrass is layered with smooth mango bavarian cream, and the passion fruit sauce is balanced with honey for a multi-layered sweetness. Squeezing sudachi over the dessert as the flavors build brings out the individual character of each ingredient for a refreshing summer finish.
- Period: June 21–August 22, 2026

Fresh Herbal Drinks at Café Sekki

Café Sekki is offering seasonal herbal drinks using herbs hand-picked from the hotel garden, designed to bring cool refreshment during the height of Kyoto's summer.
Yuzu Herbal Soda (right in photo, ¥1,050) — House-made yuzu syrup is combined with herbs from the garden and sparkling water bottled on-site. The gentle acidity of yuzu and the fresh aroma of the herbs create a clean, cooling drink.
Green Tea Herbal Cold Brew (left in photo, ¥1,250) — House-grown herbs are cold-brewed with honey for 12 hours to make a syrup, then blended with cold brew green tea. The umami of the green tea, delicate herbal fragrance, and natural sweetness come together in a refreshingly smooth cup. Adding comb honey (sugimitsu) gradually deepens the sweetness and richness as you drink.
