The Westin Miyako Kyoto Serves November-Only "Autumn Harvest Afternoon Tea" With Tamba Chestnuts, Arita Mandarins and Figs

The Westin Miyako Kyoto will serve the "Autumn Harvest Afternoon Tea" (実りの秋アフタヌーンティー) at TEA LOUNGE MAYFAIR on the 2nd floor from Sunday, November 1 to Monday, November 30, 2026.

The menu centers on autumn produce, including Tamba chestnuts, Arita mandarins, figs and apples, with the patisserie's delicate technique bringing out the flavor of each ingredient. Pie dough shaped to look like fallen leaves lies under the first-tier sweets, recreating the scene of a walk through an autumn garden on the stand. The second tier makes generous use of in-season Arita mandarins, and the third tier holds light savories made with root vegetables and smoked salmon. A separate plate features a dessert in which chestnut cream is styled as a rock garden, reflecting the atmosphere of Kyoto in autumn.

Upper Tier: Sweets on Pie Dough Styled as Fallen Leaves

Five sweets built around autumn fruit are arranged on pie dough made to resemble fallen leaves. The Tamba chestnut Mont Blanc brings out the flavor of Japanese chestnuts, while the fig and chocolate macaron offers a flavor with depth. Together with the apple-shaped mousse, the colorful first tier spreads an autumn scene across the table.

  • Apple and Citrus Jelly: A light dish that layers a mandarin jelly scented with Cointreau and an apple jelly with pieces of fruit.
  • Tamba Chestnut Mont Blanc: Tamba chestnuts are used in both the cream and the decoration, so the flavor of Japanese chestnuts comes through clearly.
  • Fig and Chocolate Macaron: Chocolate and fig combine into a flavor with depth, and the small popping texture of the figs adds to the appeal.
  • Apple and Berry Pâte de Fruits: The sweet-tart scent of redcurrant (groseille) and apple is turned into a rich, concentrated fruit flavor. The texture unique to pâte de fruits adds a pleasant accent to the whole afternoon tea.
  • Apple Mousse: A mousse in the shape of an apple, made with pieces of fruit. It has a smooth, melting texture and a clean sweetness, and is meant to please both the eye and the palate.

Middle Tier: The Juicy Flavor of In-Season Arita Mandarins

Arita mandarins, now in season, are used generously to express their juicy sweetness in two Western-style sweets: a shortcake and a mille-feuille. Refreshing creams made with fromage blanc and lime bring out the natural juiciness of the mandarins. Baked scones come with clotted cream and mandarin jam.

  • Arita Mandarin Shortcake: A shortcake in a glass that combines fromage blanc cream with in-season Arita mandarins. Orange jam tucked inside adds an accent and highlights the mandarins' juiciness.
  • Arita Mandarin Mille-Feuille: A refreshing pairing of lime-scented cream and Arita mandarins.
  • Scones (Plain and Matcha): Served with clotted cream and mandarin jam.

Lower Tier: Autumn Flavors in Light Savories

Four savories offer a change of flavor between the sweets. Root vegetables such as carrot, daikon radish and sweet potato, and smoked salmon scented with dill, are prepared lightly to bring out what each ingredient does best.

  • Root Vegetable Mille-Feuille: Layers of carrot, daikon radish and sweet potato, served with bagna cauda sauce.
  • Spinach and Bacon Quiche: A rich, filling dish.
  • Smoked Salmon Ceviche: Dill adds a refreshing note to the smoked salmon.
  • Ume and Chicken Pincho: A light dish with the tartness of ume (Japanese plum) paste, accented with pistachios.

Separate Plate: Chestnut Tiramisu Styled as a Rock Garden

Chestnut dessert styled as a rock garden

Carefully ground chestnut cream is styled as a rock garden, a dish that lets diners enjoy the look of autumn in Kyoto as well as its taste. It uses fragrant European chestnuts, which show a different side of the chestnut from the Japanese chestnuts in the first-tier Mont Blanc. Pairing it with coffee adds depth, and the pie dough and nuts on top vary the texture.

Special Drink: Hojicha Latte
