Snack Suimon (スナック水紋), the second location from Suichu Co., Ltd. (株式会社水中), which runs Snack Suichu (スナック水中) in Yaho, Kunitachi, will hold its grand opening on October 21, 2026 at nonoich kunitachi (1-1-37 Naka, Kunitachi, Tokyo), a new facility in front of Kunitachi Station.

Snack Suimon aims to be a place that welcomes even people who are curious about snack bars but have never opened the door because they are unsure about the prices or how to spend their time. It is a new neighborhood social spot that you can start with a detour in the early evening.
If the first location, Snack Suichu, is a place to settle in and spend a long time late at night, the second location, Snack Suimon, is a place to stop in for a single drink on the way home from work or shopping, adding more entry points to snack bars. For example, you could have just one drink between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM on weekends and head home, hop over to Suichu if you feel like talking a little more, or stop by another shop in Kunitachi on the way back. The aim is a snack bar where you choose how to spend your time and where to go afterward.
Reducing the Reasons People Hesitate to Enter a Snack Bar, One by One
Suichu Co., Ltd. took over すなっく・せつこ (Snack Setsuko), which had been loved for 25 years in Yaho, Kunitachi, and reopened it as Snack Suichu in 2022. It has run a neighborhood social spot where a wide range of customers, including younger people, women, and first-time snack bar visitors, gather around the same counter.
Even so, some people who are interested in snack bars cannot take the first step for reasons such as "I don't know the prices," "it looks like it's full of regulars," "I feel like I'd have to sing," and "I'm worried about standing out if I go in alone."
At Snack Suimon, the chance conversations and the fun of karaoke that define a snack bar are kept, while the first order, the prices, and how to spend time in the shop are made as easy to understand as possible. The goal is not to dilute the snack bar character but to reduce the "not knowing" that comes before people get there.
The starting point for Suimon also came from Onishi (大西千里), the representative of Suichu, who felt through raising children both the importance of a place that is neither home nor work and the difficulty of going out drinking until late at night. By offering a way to stop in briefly from the early evening, the shop creates a small option of "one drink before heading home" rather than a somewhat grand plan of "going to a snack bar."
The Meaning Behind the Name "Suimon"
The name "Suimon" (水紋) evokes a single drop falling on the surface of the water and gently spreading in circles through the town. It also overlaps with the sound of "水門" (suimon), meaning a gate or entrance.
A single drop born from Suichu spreads outside the shop and into the town of Kunitachi. Suimon is not a place that dilutes the Suichu experience but an entrance that increases the chances to step into a snack bar and to connect with new places and people. Within the same Suichu group, the aim is to offer two options, time to settle in and spend a long while and time that starts with an early-evening drink, and to connect two shops with different experiences.
Three Experiences Suimon Aims For

1. Stop in from the early evening, even for just one drink
At Suimon, a way of enjoying a light drink in the early evening, like an "apero," is introduced as one entry point to the snack bar experience. Without assuming a long stay or heavy drinking, you can spend a short time to suit your plans for the day, such as after shopping, before dinner, or on the way home from work. The shop also aims to let people spend the same time with non-alcoholic drinks.
2. Talk or don't, sing or don't
There is no need to force yourself to befriend strangers. You can enjoy chatting with the staff, listen to the person next to you sing, applaud a song you know, or quietly leave after two drinks. The shop is meant to be a place where you can choose how to take part according to your mood that day.
3. After one drink, one more place to go in town
Suimon does not aim only for long stays. You might head to another shop you learned about there, hop over to Suichu, or walk around town before going home. With Suimon as the starting point, the aim is to increase the new destinations and places to turn to in visitors' daily lives.
A Pilot Site for FUTURE LENS and the "ケアのはしご" (Ladder of Care)

In May 2025, Suichu Co., Ltd. was selected as a fiscal 2025 participating business in FUTURE LENS, a co-creation social environment design program organized by Nikken Sekkei (株式会社日建設計) and jointly operated with Zebras and Company. Under the theme "Demonstration toward the reinterpretation and development of snack bars as a new third place in the city," it is carrying out the initiative together with Nikken Sekkei and Zebras and Company.
Suimon is one base for that demonstration. In Kunitachi, the team will test the "ケアのはしご" (Ladder of Care), in which good experiences born inside the shop seep out into the town and gradually increase the places people go and the relationships they have. Positioning Suimon as the "0th stop" on the ladder, the team will explore the role snack bars can play in daily life through movement between the first location, Snack Suichu, and local shops, early-evening use, and changes in the visit experience.
