T.Y.HARBOR Brewery's Craft Beers Are Now Available in Cans with a Modern New Design

Tokyo's longest-running craft beer brewery, T.Y.HARBOR Brewery, has released a new lineup of canned beers. The cans launched on Friday, June 19, 2026, marking a significant milestone for the brewery as it celebrates the opening of its new brewing facility, BREWS, in the Tennōzu Isle waterfront district.

Founded in 1997, T.Y.HARBOR Brewery has been at the forefront of Tokyo's craft beer culture for nearly three decades. The launch of BREWS — a state-of-the-art brewing space — prompted a full brand overhaul, including a redesigned can package.

New Can Design

The iconic hexagonal silhouette of T.Y.HARBOR Brewery's logo traces its origins to the roofline of the T.Y.HARBOR restaurant, where the brewing tanks were once housed. The hexagonal shape was reflected in the adjacent canal, creating a striking image that has defined the brand for years.

The updated design retains this distinctive hexagonal motif while taking it in a more modern, impactful direction. Bold, pop colors paired with a sleek aesthetic make the new cans instantly recognizable on the shelf.

The canned beers are available at BREWS in Tennōzu Isle (with a head-start launch), the official online shop, and breadworks Shogo-in. They are also available as a Shinagawa City furusato nozei (hometown tax) return gift.

At BREWS, individual cans can be purchased or combined for takeout as you prefer. The online shop also carries a 6-can takeout pack (2 Pale Ales, 1 Wheat Ale, 1 Amber Ale, 1 IPA, 1 Imperial Stout).

Going forward, seasonal beers available by the month and limited-edition releases will be added alongside the core lineup, with plans to expand to additional retail locations.

About T.Y.HARBOR Brewery

BREWS interior

T.Y.HARBOR Brewery was established inside the T.Y.HARBOR restaurant in 1997, making it Tokyo's oldest craft beer brewery. After nearly 30 years, the aging brewing equipment needed replacing, but space and construction constraints at the original location led the team to relocate the main brewery into an adjacent warehouse — now called BREWS.

The new facility features the latest equipment, minimizing oxygen-related deterioration while improving thermal efficiency. Better evaporation of off-flavors has allowed the brewery's signature beers to reach an even higher level of quality.

Beyond quality, the new brewery also prioritizes working conditions and environmental sustainability. Routine tasks have been automated to create a safer, more focused working environment. Spent malt — previously discarded — is now upcycled: used as an ingredient in bread and granola served at in-house kitchens, and as feed at a partner farm. Compost from the farm is then used as fertilizer at a partner agricultural operation, with the resulting beef and fruit incorporated into the brewery's own products.

Brewmaster Kazuei Abe

Brewmaster Kazuei Abe joined the brewery at its founding in 1997, stepping forward after an internal recruitment call from the then-owner, Terada Warehouse. After a year of training in brewing techniques, he developed the high-quality, ingredient-focused craft beer recipes that still define the brewery today.
