Autumn Foliage Light-Ups in Kodaira and Tachikawa, a Fussa Brewery Open Day, a Stamp Rally and More Across Tokyo's Tama Area

Tokyo's Tama area has a varied lineup of events and sightseeing options from November onward, including autumn foliage light-ups, a sake brewery open day, a digital stamp rally and photo contests. Here are the recommendations for November.

Kodaira: Hagiyama Park Light-Up "Surrounded by Glittering Autumn Leaves"

Hagiyama Park in Kodaira, Tokyo, will hold "Hagiyama Park Light-Up: Surrounded by Glittering Autumn Leaves" (萩山公園ライトアップ きらめく紅葉につつまれて), a light-up event to enjoy autumn foliage.

More than 100 Iroha maple trees that decorate the venue are lit up, creating a fantastical scene that looks different from the park in the daytime. The vividly illuminated autumn leaves are a special sight unique to autumn nights. Visitors can stroll while enjoying the beauty of the season, and the scenery is also recommended for photography.

Due to renovation work in the park this year, there will be no kitchen car vendors, but it is a chance to take your time enjoying the beauty of the autumn leaves themselves. Visitors are invited to spend a special autumn moment surrounded by glittering foliage with family and friends.

Tachikawa: From Golden Ginkgo Avenue to About 600,000 Lights

Tachikawa, Tokyo, will host two events that decorate the city with fantastical light from autumn to winter: "Autumn Night Walk 2026" at Showa Kinen Park and the "2026 Tachikawa Illumination" at the north exit of Tachikawa Station.

The highlight is "Autumn Night Walk 2026" at Showa Kinen Park, a national government park, which was newly certified as a "Light-Up Night View Heritage" (ライトアップ夜景遺産) in the 21st "Nihon Yakei Isan" (Japan Night View Heritage, 日本夜景遺産) announced on October 9, 2026. A ginkgo avenue about 300 m long glows golden, and colorful autumn leaves and the Japanese Garden create a fantastical night landscape.

From the natural light-up of autumn to the winter illumination that decorates the urban space, Tachikawa, which is easy to reach from central Tokyo, offers special nights that change their look with the seasons.

A golden tunnel 300 m long and a fantastical Japanese Garden reflected in the water. From October 29 (Thursday) to November 29 (Sunday), Showa Kinen Park will hold "Autumn Night Walk 2026," an autumn light-up event.

The event is in its 7th year and was newly certified as a "Light-Up Night View Heritage" in the 21st "Nihon Yakei Isan" (Japan Night View Heritage), announced on October 9, 2026. The top attraction is "Katarai no Icho Namiki," a ginkgo avenue about 300 m long made up of 98 ginkgo trees. With presentations that link light and music, the ginkgo trees overhead glow golden, creating an extraordinary world as if walking through a tunnel of light.

In the Japanese Garden, where about 300 maple trees change color, visitors can enjoy autumn leaves reflected on the pond's surface and the distinctly Japanese atmosphere created by wagasa (Japanese paper umbrellas) and lanterns. At the Canal (カナール) on the Tachikawa Gate side, the ginkgo avenue, fountains and waterways are also beautifully lit, offering a different autumn view.

To commemorate the Night View Heritage certification, a special period is also set from October 29 (Thursday) to October 31 (Saturday), during which the Japanese Garden at night, which normally requires a separate fee, can be viewed with only the park admission fee.
