Four areas in central Tokyo — the Nihonbashi district, Tokyo Midtown Roppongi, Tokyo Midtown Hibiya, and Tokyo Midtown Yaesu — are rolling out a lineup of spring flower events from March through April 2026. Organized by Mitsui Fudosan, each location takes a different approach to celebrating the season, from cherry blossom strolls and immersive flower domes to art installations and sustainable floral workshops.
This year's events also share an emphasis on sustainability: reusable artificial flowers, loss-flower (unsold or surplus flower) initiatives, and long-running cherry tree preservation projects are all part of the programming.
Nihonbashi Area: SAKURA FES NIHONBASHI 2026
Dates: March 18 (Wed) – April 5 (Sun), 2026

The Nihonbashi district celebrates the cherry blossom season with a variety of themed content spread across the area. On the food side, the "Nihonbashi Parfes" brings together a colorful assortment of parfaits, while the "Nihonbashi Sakura Yatai" (outdoor stalls) offer seasonal spring flavors you can enjoy while wandering the streets.
Visual highlights include cherry blossom noren curtains, sakura lanterns, and a nighttime cherry blossom light-up display that now extends to the area in front of the Bank of Japan along Edo Sakura-dori. A "Nihonbashi Sakura Yatai Night" event and a sakura sticker rally are also on the schedule, adding extra reasons to explore the neighborhood after dark.

Sustainable Initiative

The Nihonbashi area has been steadily expanding its cherry tree plantings to increase walkability and draw visitors deeper into the district. Edo Sakura-dori, already known for its cherry-lined boulevard, served as the starting point, with additional trees planted along Nichigin-dori in 2019. The ongoing plantings aim to ensure that spring blooms remain a lasting feature of the neighborhood for generations to come.
Tokyo Midtown Roppongi: MIDTOWN BLOSSOM 2026
Dates: March 13 (Fri) – April 12 (Sun), 2026

The Midtown Garden at Tokyo Midtown Roppongi, where approximately 100 cherry trees come into bloom each spring, is the backdrop for "MIDTOWN BLOSSOM 2026." A lounge called "ROKU〈六〉 MIDTOWN BLOSSOM LOUNGE" opens within the garden, serving food, drinks, and sweets devised by The Ritz-Carlton, Tokyo in an open-air setting surrounded by spring flowers.
New this year is the "BLOSSOM AVENUE." promenade, alongside an installation by dress designer and visual artist Tomoki Koizumi. Inside the complex, visitors can view "Flower Art Award 2026" submissions and dine at terrace-seating restaurants overlooking the cherry tree boulevard.

Sustainable Initiative: Cherry Tree Succession Project

Tokyo Midtown is home to around 40 cherry trees inherited from the former Japan Defense Agency site that once occupied this land. In keeping with the development philosophy of "preserving the memory of the land," a succession project launched in 2013 propagates new saplings from the old trees using air layering and grafting techniques. These saplings are grown elsewhere and then replanted on-site or at other locations. The project will continue transplanting a few trees each year, gradually replacing aging trees with younger ones in a way that mirrors natural generational change, so that the beloved cherry trees of this site can be passed on into the future.
Tokyo Midtown Hibiya: HIBIYA BLOSSOM 2026
Dates: March 3 (Tue) – April 4 (Sat), 2026

Tokyo Midtown Hibiya kicked off spring on March 3 with "HIBIYA BLOSSOM 2026," transforming the complex and its surrounding streets with more than 15,000 artificial flowers under the theme of "Art & Flower." This year's centerpiece is a collaboration with the film Wicked: For Good — a flower dome styled around the movie's imagery, complete with tulip decorations and an inaugural "Yellow Brick Road" guiding visitors through the world of Oz.
Outside along Hibiya Nakadori, the "Botanical Street" installation dresses street lamps and benches in floral art, extending the colorful atmosphere throughout the broader Hibiya neighborhood.

Sustainable Initiative: Reusable Artificial Flowers and Floral Gifts

The flowers used throughout the venue are reusable artificial flowers (artificial blooms), some of which incorporate recycled PET bottles and recycled plastics among their raw materials. Additionally, on March 29 (Sun) — the eighth anniversary of Hibiya's opening — used fresh flowers from the event will be given away to visitors in a "Floral Gift" program, ensuring that the blooms find a second life rather than going to waste.
Tokyo Midtown Yaesu: Hello, Spring! 2026 in TOKYO MIDTOWN YAESU
Dates: March 13 (Fri) – April 5 (Sun), 2026

Tokyo Midtown Yaesu welcomes spring with "Hello, Spring! 2026," featuring a garden surrounded by colorful flowers and a standout installation called "FLOWER SHOWER" — an approximately 3.5-meter-tall object that gives visitors the sensation of being enveloped in falling flower petals. The installation doubles as a vibrant photo spot.
Alongside the decorations, workshops where participants can make bouquets from loss flowers (flowers that would otherwise be discarded despite being in good condition) are scheduled throughout the event period, along with free flower giveaways. The event is also framed as a send-off for those starting new chapters in life — new students, new employees, and anyone taking a fresh step forward in spring.

Sustainable Initiative: Loss Flower Workshop and Giveaway
The loss flower workshops and free distribution at Yaesu are handled by "#Flowership," a flower shop that opened at Komazawa-daigaku Station in 2021 and specializes in loss flowers — blooms that are discarded due to overstock or other market reasons despite being perfectly usable. By incorporating these flowers into the event programming, the initiative aims to reduce floral waste and contribute to broader sustainability goals.
