Cherry Tree Heritage Project
Tokyo Midtown is home to approximately 40 cherry trees inherited from the former Defense Agency, which bloom each year.
Typically, Yoshino cherry trees have a lifespan of about 60 years, and these trees are expected to reach the end of their lifespan within the next 10 to 20 years. Based on the development philosophy of "preserving the memory of the land," Tokyo Midtown launched an initiative in May 2013 to continue the legacy of these cherry trees. While transplanting cherry trees and ensuring their healthy growth afterward is generally considered challenging, the aim is to pass on the cherry trees beloved on this land, along with the beautiful landscape, to future generations.
