Mihama Town Lake Center in Fukui Prefecture is hosting "Spring Lake Festa 2026," a special two-day event on the Mikata Five Lakes — a Ramsar Convention-registered wetland and recognized Japanese Agricultural Heritage site. The event runs on Saturday, April 4, and Sunday, April 5, 2026.
In addition to regular cruises, four special cruises are offered exclusively during the event: the Konio Cruise, Bird-Watching Cruise, Night Cruise, and the Cycle Cruise, which combines cycling with a boat ride on the lake. Passengers on special cruises will receive complimentary local sweets, and there will be a lucky draw lottery featuring Wakasa Mihama local specialty products.
The sightseeing boats run on renewable energy, producing zero CO2 emissions and operating without engine noise for a quiet ride across the lakes.
