A new limited-edition addition to Suntory's -196 (Ichikuroku) lineup is on the way: -196 <Okinawa Pineapple> will go on sale nationwide from May 5, 2026 (Tuesday, a public holiday).
The -196 brand has been around since 2005 and is known for its proprietary "-196°C brewing method." Within the brand, the "fruit-forward chuhai" -196 series launched last July has been a hit, with cumulative sales surpassing 100 million bottles as of the end of February (350ml equivalent), driven by its fresh, fruit-like taste and vibrant packaging.
Flavor
The Okinawa Pineapple variety uses a macerate of Okinawa-grown pineapple produced with the -196°C brewing method. Suntory's signature blending technique brings out a juicy flavor that the brand describes as evoking "the moment you bite into a pineapple."

Packaging
The can features a pineapple-themed background with an illustration of the fruit and the -196 logo prominently displayed in the center. A hibiscus flower-shaped "limited release" icon is included to highlight the use of Okinawa-grown fruit.
