Suntory is launching "The Premium Malt's Master's Dream Suisen Ugoku (水泉動, すいせんうごく)" nationwide in limited quantities from Tuesday, December 22. It is also being offered ahead of that launch through Suntory's 2026 beer winter gift lineup.
A Beer Inspired by Japan's Micro-Seasons
The Premium Malt's Master's Dream is known for its "layered and rich" flavor, shaped by the brewers' careful attention to detail. This latest release takes its theme from "Suisen Ugoku," the 68th of Japan's 72 micro-seasons (七十二候) — a set of short seasonal periods, each roughly four to six days long, that further divide the 24 solar terms (二十四節気) into early, middle, and late phases, each named for a subtle shift in nature. Suisen Ugoku marks the moment when springs that had been frozen underground begin to thaw and water starts to flow again. This edition invites drinkers to savor Japan's delicate seasonal transitions alongside the beer itself.
Contents and Packaging
The beer is brewed with several types of malt, including Diamond Malt produced through floor malting*, resulting in a light yet lustrous flavor built from interwoven soft bitterness, body, and sweetness.
The package design uses vivid colors to express the brilliance and vitality of life beginning to stir underground as spring approaches, along with a sense of hope for the new season ahead.
*A traditional malting method used to convert barley into malt. This product does not contain malt that was floor-malted at the Yamazaki Distillery or Hakushu Distillery.
