TAKEO PAPER SHOW 50 "HOGI and REI ─ MARK THE MOMENT" will be held for nine days, from Saturday, October 17 to Sunday, October 25, 2026, organized by Takeo Co., Ltd.
The exhibition is planned and organized by Kenya Hara together with Nippon Design Center's Hara Design Institute. Under the title "HOGI and REI," it explores the appeal that paper takes on at special occasions, through the work of participating creators and a wide range of papers and processing techniques.
Advance reservations for admission (free) opened on the official website on Tuesday, September 15. Interested visitors are encouraged to apply.

Talk Events
Reservations for the talk events have also opened. The lineup includes cross-talks among participating creators, a lecture on "paper and the environment" by the Japan Paper Association, and an appearance by Kenya Hara, who planned and organized the exhibition.

2 Encountering Paper Anew
TAKEO PAPER SHOW 50 offers a chance to look at paper afresh.
Pure white paper. Rustic paper that retains the texture of its raw fibers. Paper so thin its presence is barely felt. Handmade paper 7 meters in total length.
Through an encounter with a wide variety of papers — from paper made using methods unchanged for over a thousand years to fine papers refined and precision-made by machine — the exhibition presents a fresh encounter with paper, a material that has continually stimulated human creativity.

Nippon Design Center Hara Design Institute + 三澤デザイン研究室
Intricate cutting, embossing, special printing, and other processes applied with precision to the surface of paper transform it into an entirely different material, bringing new discoveries and surprises to a material that once seemed familiar.
Paper is easily soiled and creases readily, yet it is also supple and resilient. The exhibition presents and explains a selection of processing techniques that further elevate this appeal.

A documentary capturing the thinking and process behind the exhibited works.
Through footage that weaves together each creator's comments with scenes from the making of their work, it reveals the unseen side of the creative process, while also aiming to record and pass on the papers and processing techniques used in the works.

A corner revisiting the appeal of paper as a material is also included.
Fiber and Circulation
This display focuses on the systems that support paper as a circulating resource. It introduces the characteristics and roles of recycled pulp and virgin pulp, and explores how paper is repeatedly reborn through circulation and its relationship with sustainable forest resources.
FINE PAPERS
A showcase of Takeo's diverse range of fine papers, centered on new and renewed products released from 2024 onward. Visitors can view approximately 30 varieties, including papers with functionality tailored to packaging and other uses, as well as products set for future release. Printed and processed samples that visitors can take home are also available.
The latter half of the run is expected to be crowded, so visitors are encouraged to apply for their preferred date and time through the official website in advance.
