TERU, vocalist of the rock band GLAY, is set to host his fifth solo art exhibition in Hakodate, Hokkaido. Titled "HAKODATE ART EXHIBITION 2026 Vol.3 'Kyushigai'" (旧市街 / Old Town), the event will take place from August 1 (Saturday) to August 11 (Tuesday), 2026, across three venues in Hakodate's historic western district — known locally as the "Kyushigai" (Old Town).
The event is designed as a walking-tour-style exhibition, with each of the three venues offering a distinct program. Visitors are encouraged to travel between them via the area's historic streetcar line, itself part of the immersive experience.
Venue 1: Odajima Suisan Foods — TERU Installations
At Odajima Suisan Foods, two separate installation artworks will be on display. Installations are an art form in which the entire exhibition space is considered part of the work itself.
The first installation is a reworked and updated version of TERU's character exhibition that previously drew strong interest when it was held in Shibuya. The second explores the theme of "lines" (線), expressing the relationship between society and people.

About Hakodate's Western District (Kyushigai)
The western district of Hakodate — known as Kyushigai, or "Old Town" — is a historic neighborhood surrounding Hakodate Port. Following the port's opening in the late Edo period in 1859, the area developed into an international trading hub, blending Japanese and Western architectural styles into a distinctive streetscape. This exhibition uses the entire district as its backdrop, offering visitors a chance to experience not only the artworks but also the nostalgic atmosphere of the city itself.
Hakodate Port Festival Participation
TERU will also participate in the Hakodate Port Festival (函館港まつり), held during the same period.
Festival dates: August 2 (Sunday) to August 3 (Monday), 2026 (Backup date: August 4, Tuesday)
- August 2: 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM
- August 3: 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM
- Backup date August 4: 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM

TERU's Comment
For the past three years, I've been holding art exhibitions in Hakodate, but this time the stage is the "Old Town" area — a place with deep historical roots in the city. I'd like visitors to ride the streetcar that connects the three venues as part of the immersive experience, and to enjoy the city itself through art.
Kyushigai is the "birthplace of modern Japan," a city that developed as an international trade hub following the port's opening in 1859. By combining the city's history with art, I hope to help create a new culture for Hakodate's Old Town.
