The Tokushima Castle Awa Odori spring festival is set to take place at Tokushima Central Park, where the lively zomeki rhythms of Awa Odori will echo through the fresh spring foliage. Three separate areas within the park offer distinct styles of the traditional dance, making for a well-rounded experience.
At Washimon Gate Plaza, musicians perform from an elevated yagura stage while dancers encircle them in a ring dance (wa-odori). In the plaza in front of the Lord Hachisuka Iemasa statue, various dance troupes (ren) take to a special stage to perform their own unique choreography. Meanwhile, at Hanami Plaza — surrounded by walking paths — visitors can enjoy the flowing nagashi-odori style in a relaxed, open setting. Leisure sheets and simple folding chairs are welcome, making it easy to settle in and enjoy the performances at a leisurely pace.
On-site, there will be a children's corner and vehicle display provided by Toyota Corolla Tokushima, as well as a selection of food trucks serving local Tokushima cuisine.
