The Ogimachi Sakura Festival (扇町桜まつり) is set to be held at Ogimachi Park in Osaka's Kita Ward over three days, from Friday, April 3 through Sunday, April 5, 2026. Organized by Ogimachi Park Smile Partners, SBI MUSIC CIRCUS, and TryHard Japan — with support from Kansai TV — the event brings together cherry blossom viewing, night illuminations, traditional Japanese music, street performances, and a variety of food and drink experiences.
Event Highlights
Ogimachi Park, easily accessible from Umeda in central Osaka, is a well-known cherry blossom spot in the city. During this festival, visitors can enjoy the blooming sakura through multiple experiences that engage all the senses.
Night Cherry Blossom Illumination (Free Admission)

After dark, the cherry trees throughout Ogimachi Park are bathed in soft lighting, creating a different atmosphere from the daytime view. The illumination is open to all visitors free of charge, making it a relaxed setting for families and friends to enjoy a spring evening beneath the lit-up blossoms.
Cherry-Colored Sky Lanterns

A highlight of the evening program is the release of cherry-pink LED lanterns. The soft glow of countless lanterns rising against the backdrop of the cherry trees creates a distinctive springtime scene. Each lantern is fitted with a cord and weight, so participants hold the lantern aloft and then retrieve it after the experience — the lanterns do not fly away freely into the sky. Lantern vouchers are available for purchase at ¥4,400 (tax included) per person.
Japanese Traditional Music and Street Performance Shows

Live stage shows featuring traditional Japanese instrument performances and street acrobatics are scheduled throughout the festival. Audiences can watch from the special tatami seating area or from the beer garden chairs set up around the stage.
Sake and Tea Tasting Bar

A sake and tea tasting bar is set up within the venue, where visitors can compare selected varieties of Japanese sake and green tea. The experience is designed to be enjoyed quietly under the soft illumination of the park.
Ticket Options
Garden Chair Area with 90-Minute All-You-Can-Drink — ¥2,000 per person (tax included)

The beer garden area offers a 90-minute all-you-can-drink package alongside garden chair seating. Guests can bring their own food to the area and watch the traditional music and street performance shows while enjoying drinks beneath the cherry trees.
Red Tatami Seating with Sake Tasting Set — ¥5,000 per person (tax included)

Guests seated in the special red-accented tatami area receive a sake tasting set featuring a selection of premium Japanese sake. These seats are positioned closest to the stage, offering the best views of the live performances. The combination of cherry blossoms overhead, sakura lanterns, and sake makes this the most immersive seating option at the event.
Cherry-Colored Sky Lantern Voucher — ¥4,400 (tax included)

The lantern voucher grants access to the sky lantern experience, where visitors hold a lit LED lantern as countless others glow around them. As noted above, the lanterns are LED-powered (no open flame) and include a cord and weight system, so they are safe for all ages. After the release, participants reel in the cord and return the lantern.
About the Lanterns

All lanterns used at the festival use LED lighting rather than open flames, making the experience safe for young children and elderly visitors alike. Participants are asked to hold the cord attached to the lantern throughout the experience and return the lantern when it ends. The lanterns are not released into the sky.
