Tokyo Solamachi's Food Marche Begins Second Phase of Renewal

Tokyo Solamachi is carrying out a phased renewal of its Food Marche (West Yard and Tower Yard, 2nd floor) under the concept "OUR MARCHE!" — the first such renewal since the complex opened in May 2012. This second phase brings new shop openings, a reorganized checkout area, and a refreshed sweets pop-up space and rest area.

Tokyo Solamachi's Food Marche plans to continue its phased renewal from fiscal 2026 onward, working toward a marché that is open to the neighborhood and welcoming to a wide range of visitors, with the aim of offering fun surprises and discoveries.

Renewal Concept: OUR MARCHE!

Tokyo Solamachi's Food Marche draws a wide range of visitors — from regular customers living along the train line and in the surrounding area to residents from around Tokyo and tourists from Japan and abroad. The name "OUR MARCHE!" reflects the goal of creating a marché open to the neighborhood, where a diverse mix of people, regulars and first-time visitors alike, can gather and enjoy themselves.

New Shop Openings

This renewal brings three new shops to the Food Marche. In the sweets zone, the donut brand RANDY'S DONUTS will open its first location in the eastern Tokyo area and along the Tobu line. The globally operating tea cafe Gong cha will also make its Tokyo Solamachi debut. In addition, Sugimoto Meat Specialty Store, which already operates a restaurant on the 6th floor's Solamachi Dining, will open a butcher shop in the Food Marche, offering quality meat that customers can easily buy for home cooking.

RANDY'S DONUTS is a popular donut shop founded in Los Angeles in 1952. A giant donut-shaped sign about 10 meters in diameter towers above the roof of its original U.S. location and has long served as a neighborhood landmark. The shop hand-makes more than 30 donut varieties daily using its traditional recipes. To mark the grand opening, limited-edition donuts and merchandise will be available, along with an opening campaign for customers who spend ¥5,000 or more in a single purchase.

Gong cha

Opening late October

Gong cha, which originated in Taiwan, landed in Japan in 2015 and operates as a global tea cafe. Each cup is brewed in-store with attention to the quality of the tea leaves, water temperature, and steeping time, paired with an engaging in-store experience. Gong cha continues to aim for the creation of a new tea culture, bringing moments of everyday happiness through tea to its customers.

Sugimoto Meat Specialty Store

Opening late November

Sugimoto Meat Specialty Store, founded in 1900 and pursuing the taste of quality meat for more than 120 years, will open at Tokyo Solamachi. Drawing on the discerning eye and craftsmanship built up as meat specialists, the shop offers a wide selection that includes Matsusaka beef, Kuroge Wagyu, and domestic beef, along with premium Himebuta pork, Awa Odori chicken, domestic young chicken, ham, and sausages. Following the popular Sugimoto restaurant already at Tokyo Solamachi, customers can now enjoy the same quality at home.

Central Checkout Relocation and Expanded Coverage

Alongside the opening of the new Sugimoto Meat Specialty Store, Uoriki, Sawamitsu Seika, and Tomizawa Shoten will also reopen after their own renewal, and the layout of the central checkout will change as part of the same work. Tomizawa Shoten will be added to the shops covered by the central checkout, previously limited to the three fresh-food categories of produce, meat, and fish, with the aim of making shopping more comfortable.

Uoriki

Opening late November

Since its founding, Uoriki has kept to the motto of "safety, security, and satisfaction" as a seafood specialty shop, staying particular about the freshness, pricing, and flavor of its fish, which its own buyers source directly from the market. The shop also carries takeout sushi made with carefully selected seasonal ingredients, a specialty only a seafood shop can offer. This renewal will refresh the entire sales floor into a brighter, cleaner space.

Sawamitsu Seika

Opening late November

Sawamitsu Seika sources fresh vegetables and fruit on the same day it sells them, keeping prices affordable. This renewal also refreshes the displays, making seasonal produce easier to see and choose.

Tomizawa Shoten

Opening late November

Tomizawa Shoten stocks roughly 2,200 items, from flour, nuts, and dried fruit for baking, to carefully selected dried goods, Japanese ingredients, seasonings, and bean-based snacks, as well as cookware and wrapping supplies. It's a resource for finding baking ingredients, everyday food, and gifts, and it's also a spot for visitors to look for distinctly Japanese ingredients as a souvenir of their trip. With this renewal, Tomizawa Shoten also joins the shops covered by the central checkout, making payment smoother and more convenient.

Sweets Pop-Up Store and Rest Area Renewal

The two sections of the pop-up store (Tower Yard, 2nd floor, No. 5), where popular sweets brands rotate on a monthly basis, will take on a new look starting October 1. The renewal moves away from the previous event-space feel toward a space with the quality of a permanent shop. It also broadens what the space can host, opening the door to larger brands and sweets shops with a fuller product lineup, expanding the range of brands that can appear in these limited-time spots.

In early September, the adjoining rest area will also be renewed with new high-counter tables and greenery, creating a bright, open space where visitors can enjoy sweets from the moment of choosing them to the moment of savoring them.
