Starting April 2, 2026, Kyoto-style oden and seasonal tempura restaurant Toriikuguri has introduced a new "chicken broth oden" alongside its traditional Kyoto-style dashi oden. With locations in Ikebukuro, Shinjuku, Yokohama, and Omiya, the restaurant now offers two distinct broths in one visit.

The classic Kyoto dashi is a delicate, refined broth based on kombu and bonito, while the newly added chicken broth is a rich, savory stock made by simmering domestic chicken carcasses for four hours. Diners can now enjoy both broths side by side, choosing based on preference or mood.

Chicken Broth Oden

The chicken broth oden features a deeply flavorful stock extracted from domestic chicken carcasses through a slow four-hour simmer, drawing out the full umami of the chicken. Despite its rich depth, the finish is clean and easy to drink.

Unlike the elegant taste of the traditional Kyoto dashi, this broth delivers a bold, hearty flavor. The broth itself also enhances each ingredient, with carefully selected produce chosen to complement it.

The lineup includes classic items like daikon radish and potato, served with miso on the side, as well as soft-boiled egg, pork spareribs, and other ingredients that pair well with the chicken broth.
