On February 7, 2026, Michi-no-Eki Kazuno Antler in Kazuno City, Akita Prefecture, operated by the regional DMO, will host "Winter Play × Bonfire & Candle Night in Michi-no-Eki Kazuno Antler," an event condensing winter's charm into one day.
This event has been held as a regional winter tradition. This year features a new initiative: collaboration with students from Kazuno City Hanawa Junior High School participating in their integrated learning program "Kazuno Revitalization Project (Future Course)," who will contribute to event planning and information dissemination.
Throughout the day, guests can enjoy snow activities during daylight hours, while evening features snow candles and winter fireworks illuminating the venue, offering a full day of winter experiences from afternoon to night.
Background: A Model for Sustainable "Winter Play" Connecting Regional Resources to the Next Generation
This event goes beyond tourism, aiming to create a space where the entire community can experience SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).
• Resource Reuse: Firewood for bonfires comes from waste materials provided by local construction companies, while candles for snow candles are repurposed from candles that have completed their service at local temples.
• Fostering Regional Love: As an Akita Prefecture SDGs Partner, Michi-no-Eki Kazuno uses these activities to provide opportunities for diverse generations to develop interest in SDGs. Collaboration with local Hanawa Junior High School is part of this initiative, aiming to create a sustainable event model that helps participants rediscover their region's resources and charm while nurturing feelings for their community.

Event Highlights
◆Hanawa Junior High School × Michi-no-Eki! Junior High Students Produce "Kazuno Revitalization Project"

The event will sell "Hokugen no Momo Milk Shake" and "Hachimantai Pork Mini Nikuman" created by junior high students.
Original characters "Momo-beko" and "Yukiton" will appear on label stickers attached to products, promoting specialty products' deliciousness to visitors while encouraging social media posts to spread "regional goodness."
The event also features "Snow Globe Making Experience" using recycled bottles. Junior high students will participate as event helpers to enliven the festivities.
◆Snow Candles Made from Snow and Powerful Campfire

One major highlight is the "Snow Candles" beginning at dusk. From 4:30 PM lighting until night deepens, the venue shows two completely different faces as time passes. Approximately 1,000 hand-placed snow candles throughout the venue create a fantastical atmosphere.
At 6:00 PM, the event's other main attraction, the "Campfire," ignites, raising powerful flames that shake the clear winter air.
◆"Winter Fireworks Show" Weaving Large Blooms and Music in the Night Sky for Emotional Climax

The day's finale unfolds against the clear winter night sky with a "Winter Fireworks Show."
Guests can enjoy authentic winter fireworks produced by Hibikiya Omagari Enka Co., Ltd. from Omagari, known as the city of fireworks.
Snow candles' gentle glow flickering on the ground and large fireworks blooming overhead. The ground and night sky unite to shine, delivering photogenic scenery visible only on this day, at this place.
