1 Hotel Tokyo to Open in Early March 2026, Accepting Reservations Now

1 Hotels, a mission-driven sustainable luxury hotel brand founded by hospitality industry visionary Barry Sternlicht (headquartered in Florida, USA, CEO: Raul Leal), announces that 1 Hotel Tokyo (located in Akasaka, Minato-ku, Tokyo; General Manager: Masahito Kominami), scheduled to open in early March 2026, has begun accepting reservations.

The hotel will occupy the upper floors of the Akasaka Trust Tower, part of the Tokyo World Gate Akasaka large-scale mixed-use development project by Mori Trust Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Miwako Date). As the brand's highly anticipated first entry into Japan, it will create a space featuring biophilic design that harmonizes with nature, proposing new standards for sustainable luxury.

This project realizes a long-standing collaboration between 1 Hotels and Mori Trust Co., Ltd., a leader in Japanese hospitality and real estate development, aiming to create a future-oriented hotel that fuses environmental consideration with refined design. 1 Hotel Tokyo will be the centerpiece of Tokyo World Gate Akasaka, a next-generation development featuring approximately 5,600 square meters of extensive green space, along with offices, commercial facilities, and cultural venues.

Design Celebrating Nature and Craftsmanship

1 Hotel Tokyo is located on floors 38 to 43 of the Akasaka Trust Tower and offers panoramic views of the Imperial Palace Outer Garden, Tokyo Tower, and the city skyline. The hotel embodies 1 Hotels' signature biophilic design that emphasizes harmony with nature. The interior design draws inspiration from Japanese craftsmanship culture, creating a tranquil space where tradition and innovation harmonize, utilizing recycled materials and handcrafted finishes.

*"Biophilic design" is a design philosophy (method) that reconstructs harmony between humans and nature, incorporating natural beauty and warmth into spaces.

Comment from Raul Leal (CEO of Starwood Hotels)

"Design is at the heart of everything 1 Hotels does. For us, Tokyo was an extremely inspiring canvas for creating spaces that combine beauty and sustainability. From material selection to wellness space design, every detail was intentional, creating a hotel deeply connected to the environment and ahead of its time."

Public spaces throughout the hotel are designed to allow guests to feel connected to nature at every turn. An outdoor green wall greets visitors at the first-floor entrance, with plants centered around greenery incorporated throughout the interior.

Upon arriving at the lobby on the 38th floor, a vertical botanical installation using plants catches the eye, with a sculptural entrance combining moss, recycled wood panels, and Oya stone (Tochigi Prefecture stone famously used by Frank Lloyd Wright in Japanese architecture). Beyond lies a lounge inspired by Zen philosophy, surrounded by potted plants and built-in planters, with a garden featuring stone and gravel creating a serene and calm atmosphere.

Throughout the hotel, designs emphasize natural textures and depth, with finishes such as sand-textured wallpaper and handcrafted plaster that highlight the inherent character of materials. Lines of gravel along the walls create a gentle landscape reminiscent of Japanese mountain streams. These elements harmonize to complete a space that reinterprets the Japanese aesthetic of "wabi-sabi" in a contemporary way.

Interior design featuring natural materials and craftsmanship

The hotel features 211 rooms in total, including 24 suites (including 3 penthouses) and 5 universal rooms. Each guest room is a tranquil retreat where sustainable materials and craftsmanship merge, featuring preserved moss, art made from recycled pallets, interiors by local artisans, and carefully selected greenery. Some rooms offer views of Tokyo's skyline and the Imperial Palace Outer Garden.

Dining Experiences Elevating Tokyo's Flavors

1 Hotel Tokyo offers sustainable dining experiences that celebrate seasonal ingredients and regional bounty. While practicing minimal waste, the hotel carefully presents dishes and drinks that capture seasonal and local flavors.

The signature restaurant is inspired by the Mediterranean, reinterpreting the spirit of the French Riviera with Tokyo sensibility. The atmosphere transitions from light and sophisticated during the day to more international and vibrant at night, with an adjoining aperitif bar serving spritzes, tonics, and cocktails.

The Lobby Lounge & Bar is an all-day space inspired by Japanese gin culture. Centered around a library of 50 gins featuring botanicals from around the world and Japan, guests can experience a "Signature Martini Ritual" where they select their preferred botanicals and vermouth to finish their drink. Enjoy breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and cocktail time, each offering different charms throughout the day. "Neighbors Cafe" provides plant-based healthy menu options alongside artisan coffee and premium tea, designed to be a body-friendly choice for both traveling guests and local daily visitors.

The entire dining space is designed around the theme of merging natural materials and craftsmanship. The warmth of material textures harmonizes with views of Tokyo's cityscape, creating a pleasant lingering impression. Private dining rooms feature art using washi paper and dried botanicals, allowing guests to experience a delicate and refined worldview where nature and art resonate.

The brand philosophy of "coexistence with nature" permeates event offerings. From small gatherings to meetings and parties, the hotel proposes memorable events that also consider the environment. Venues include "Sakura" and "Camellia" on the 38th floor, offering views of Tokyo Tower and Tokyo Bay, as well as private dining rooms in the restaurant, with a total of 500 square meters of multi-purpose space. Enjoy rich moments surrounded by Tokyo's unique scenery in spaces where natural light gently filters through. Furthermore, under the brand's unique "Certified Sustainable Gatherings" program, the hotel supports sustainable event hosting through waste-free operations and catering using local ingredients.

Space Creation Themed Around Wellness and Regeneration

The spa offers holistic treatments blending Japanese and Western traditions. It features 5 private rooms and a couples suite, with relaxation spaces and a hammam room.

The fitness area, named "The Field House," operates 24 hours and features Technogym equipment and various classes. Beyond the naturally lit indoor pool lies a landscaped deck that breathes life into the city, gently healing and regenerating mind and body.
