Aomoriya by Hoshino Resorts Hosts Tange Hanasaka Matsuri Spring Festival with Nebuta-lit Flower Corridor

Aomoriya by Hoshino Resorts, a hot spring inn where guests can fully immerse themselves in Aomori's culture, will host the Tange Hanasaka Matsuri from March 4 to May 31, 2026. The festival features the illuminated Apple and Cherry Blossom Corridor, where Nebuta Hanasaka Jisan, a folklore character inspired by the classic tale, brings early spring to the region.

This year's festival introduces a new Spring Flower Bouquet Crepe inspired by the flowers bloomed by Nebuta Hanasaka Jisan. Other highlights include the Apple and Cherry Blossom Corridor, which expresses the seasonal transition from snow-covered landscapes to spring colors using local craftsmanship, the Edible Flower Fortune made with Nambu senbei crackers, and the Cherry Blossom Light Bath where guests can enjoy flower viewing while soaking in the hot spring. These spring-limited programs celebrate the anticipation of spring that Aomori residents feel after the long winter, offering a chance to enjoy cherry blossom viewing to the fullest and uplift spirits.

Note: "Tange" is an Aomori dialect word meaning "very much" or "a lot."

5 Programs to Enjoy Tange Hanasaka Matsuri

This corridor expresses the mystical scenery of transitioning from the all-white winter world to the vividly colored spring using Nebuta-technique lanterns and decorations made with Nanbu sakiori (裂織, a traditional weaving technique) and Tsugaru-bidoro glassware. As visitors walk through the corridor, the scenery transforms from winter to spring, eventually arriving at the lively Jawamégu Plaza where flower viewing takes place. With each step forward, visitors can feel the stark seasonal contrast and the powerful vitality of spring's awakening. Since it's indoors, weather doesn't affect the experience, and every day is peak season for full-bloom flower viewing.
