Asakusa Hanayashiki, Japan's oldest amusement park, is holding "Kimono Discount 2026" for two months from September 2 (Wednesday) to October 31 (Saturday), 2026, waiving park admission for visitors who come dressed in kimono.
Asakusa, home to Japan's oldest amusement park, is also one of the country's leading kimono-rental districts, with local students, couples, and overseas visitors alike enjoying strolling the streets in kimono.
To let visitors enjoy this local culture even further, Asakusa Hanayashiki is offering free admission to guests who arrive in kimono, along with a coupon for half-price admission on their next visit. Many of the park's attractions, including its classic roller coaster, can be ridden while wearing a kimono, making it easy to enjoy an only-in-Asakusa experience.
On weekdays during the campaign, the park is also holding "Photoraction," a special photo event that temporarily stops two of its retro-style rides — the Merry-Go-Round and the Swan — for ten minutes at a time so visitors can take photos inside them. It's a uniquely Hanayashiki way to capture a memorable shot in kimono against the backdrop of Japan's oldest amusement park. A companion social media campaign also invites guests to enter with photos of themselves in kimono taken in the park.

Kimono Discount 2026 Details
Admission is free for guests of all ages, from adults to children, who come dressed in wafuku (ride fees are charged separately). Guests using the kimono discount also receive a novelty sticker as a gift, while supplies last.
- Eligible attire: Wafuku, including kimono, yukata, hakama, and jinbei
- Not eligible: Preschoolers and guests eligible for the disability discount, who already receive free admission, and group visitors
- Coupon validity: September 2, 2026 to December 31, 2026
- The coupon cannot be used for admission during night events or special event operating hours, and cannot be combined with other discounts.

The Merry-Go-Round and the Swan, two of the park's most retro-feeling rides, are temporarily stopped for ten minutes at a time so guests can freely take photos while inside the stationary ride.
