awai 2026 Brings Mobility Demos, Outdoor Cinema, Sumo, and More to HANEDA INNOVATION CITY from November 6 to 8

awai 2026 will be held at HANEDA INNOVATION CITY (羽田イノベーションシティ, abbreviated HICity), a large mixed-use complex next to Haneda Airport in Ota City, Tokyo, for three days from Friday, November 6 to Sunday, November 8, 2026. HICity is being developed as a town-building project through a public-private partnership between Ota City and Haneda Mirai Development Co., Ltd. (羽田みらい開発株式会社), which organizes the event.

In November 2026, HICity marks the third anniversary of its grand opening. Drawing on the network it has built so far, the event gathers a variety of content under three categories: "Mirai" (Future), "Bunka" (Culture), and "Kurashi" (Daily Life). The programs cover cutting-edge technology, culture, sports, and food, offering new experiences and encounters for everyone from children to adults.

What Is "awai"?

HICity is pursuing a range of initiatives under the concept "Innovation for everyone who visits this city." The word "awai" (間) is an old Japanese word derived from "au" (合う, to meet or match) and refers to the area where different domains overlap. The event was given this name in the hope that it will become a place where experiences from many genres overlap and new encounters are born.
