A new art book titled Beautiful Gardens in Paintings — the first installment of the ちいさな展覧会 series — is set to release on June 24, 2026. The book compiles approximately 400 paintings of beautiful gardens, offering readers a sense of leafing through an intimate gallery exhibition in the palm of their hand.
The volume is organized into two chapters. Chapter 1, "My Garden," presents garden scenes that capture the changing of seasons — including private gardens, courtyards, vegetable patches, gazebos, and greenhouses. Chapter 2, "Public Gardens," features paintings of castle and manor gardens, as well as gardens found in everyday life, such as parks and facility grounds.
The selection spans a wide range of eras and styles, from renowned masterpieces by artists such as Claude Monet, Renoir, Manet, Klimt, Vincent van Gogh, and Kroyer, to works by lesser-known painters. Major works are accompanied by explanatory notes, and the book also covers the history of gardens in Western painting and culture, making it a volume that is both engaging to browse and informative.
The book is bilingual in Japanese and English.
