The Rolling Stones × appcycle RINGO-TEX® Tote Bag on Sale at Shibuya Sakura Stage for LuVLEE Artwork Project

A tote bag featuring COTOH × The Rolling Stones artwork, made with RINGO-TEX®, a synthetic leather derived from apples, will be sold at the art event "LuVLEE Artwork Project" at SHIBUYA SAKURA STAGE 3F in Shibuya. The event runs from Monday, October 26 to Monday, November 2, 2026, and the tote bag goes on sale in the event's official goods area, which is free to enter.

The bag was produced by appcycle Inc., a startup from Aomori Prefecture (headquartered in Hirosaki), together with "LuVLEE," a project brand run by United Entertainments inc. It puts the artwork of a world-famous rock icon on a domestic material born from Aomori apples, so that art and sustainability can be carried around in everyday life.

RINGO-TEX® supports inkjet printing, so the colors and lines of the artwork can be applied to the material as they are. With the lightness and water repellency typical of synthetic leather, the bag is made to be easy to use day to day.

Working with LuVLEE

LuVLEE is a project brand that plans and produces officially licensed merchandise for overseas musicians, including The Rolling Stones. At the "LuVLEE Artwork Project," it offers merchandise based on artists' works as well as merchandise combined with traditional Japanese crafts.

appcycle also took part in the same project as a materials partner when it was held at Tokyo Tower in April 2026. Following the Tokyo Tower venue, the Shibuya venue brings together world-famous rock culture and sustainable materials in a tote bag made with RINGO-TEX®.

appcycle has also released art products that use RINGO-TEX® as a canvas, such as a collaboration tote with Aomori-born artist GOMA and a pouch printed with Nebuta paintings. The company says it will continue to explore new possibilities for upcycled materials through collaborations with artists and brands.

About RINGO-TEX®

"RINGO-TEX®" is a domestically produced synthetic leather made from raw materials such as apple pomace (the pressed residue) from Aomori Prefecture. Compared with conventional synthetic leather, it reduces CO₂ emissions at each stage, including development, manufacturing, processing and disposal, and it combines excellent durability with a lightness and water repellency that genuine leather lacks.

As a new material with the potential to replace conventional synthetic leather products, it has been adopted by companies and brands in Japan and abroad, including for the headrest covers of ANA's specially painted aircraft "ANA Green Jet."
