BOTANICAL POOL CLUB (BPC), a resort hotel surrounded by about 300 plant species in Uchibo, Chiba, will run the winter-only "WINTER ESCAPE 2026" from Friday, November 6, 2026 to Wednesday, March 31, 2027. As a wellness resort, it offers a winter retreat experience that can be enjoyed casually, whether as an overnight stay or a day trip.
Starting with winter 2026, BPC is expanding its wellness content. Making use of the environment surrounded by nature, it offers more than 10 types of wellness experiences. They include a plant tour and photo exhibition with plant hunter Seijun Nishihata (西畠清順), a one-night, two-day wellness plan for conditioning the body during the stay, and a wellness dinner that lets guests taste the bounty of the earth. Guests can also enjoy a sauna and contrast bathing, floating meditation and pool exercise in the "HOT POOL" kept at about 40°C, and yoga and journaling that turn awareness inward.
In summer, BPC has been known as an open-air place to forget everyday life amid the pool, music, and lively crowds. In winter, the surrounding nature grows quieter, and experiences unique to the season have developed, in which guests face themselves and restore their mind and body. Matching the character of a place that shows a different face with each season, BPC proposes a new value of staying, centered on a winter wellness retreat.
BPC's idea of a retreat does not assume a long stay or any special preparation or knowledge. Taking advantage of being only 70 minutes from Tokyo, it aims to be a place to visit casually, even alone, to restore mind and body on a weekend when thoughts are stuck or in a gap between busy days.
By giving themselves over to the energy of nature, the sense of release from daily life, and unhurried time, guests can make the stay itself a moment for restoring mind and body. By the time they head home, their hearts are filled and they feel the energy to return to daily life. That is the form of wellness BPC proposes.
Winter-Only Wellness Retreat "WINTER ESCAPE 2026"
"WINTER ESCAPE 2026" offers more than 10 wellness contents for both day trips and overnight stays. Rather than following a set way of spending time, guests choose experiences to match the mood and condition of the day and restore their own bodies. It is a winter wellness retreat for stepping a little away from everyday life.
Wellness Experiences
A Jungle Produced by Plant Hunter Seijun Nishihata

BPC spreads across grounds of about 10,000 m². Suited to the climate of the Boso Peninsula, where many tropical plants grow, about 300 distinctive plant species, centered on palm trees, coexist here, creating an extraordinary space that feels like wandering into a jungle. Guests can walk among the plants, listen to the sound of rustling leaves and the presence of the wind, and breathe deeply. They can also do earthing by touching the ground barefoot and enjoy touching trees and leaves. While feeling connected with nature, guests can spend time calming the mind, away from the busyness of daily life.
Plant Tour with Seijun Nishihata and a Photo Exhibition
As part of the wellness experiences, a one-day-only plant tour is scheduled for Monday, November 30, with plant hunter Seijun Nishihata, who was in charge of the planting at BPC. Guided by Nishihata around the facility, guests can listen to the thoughts put into the planting and stories about the plants while enjoying contact with them. A wellness dinner and a talk session are also planned. It is a day for restoring mind and body while experiencing the appeal of plants.
Starting the following day, a photo exhibition is also scheduled to begin, featuring photographs that Nishihata has taken over many years while traveling around the world under the theme "Nature and Irony" (自然と皮肉). Details will be announced later.

Wellness Dinner That Lets You Taste the Bounty of the Earth

A dinner course for tasting the bounty of the earth and restoring mind and body from the inside. Available in winter only, the course begins with a green smoothie and continues with roasted turnip to taste "ROOTS," seafood evoking "SEA," and a mushroom hot pot with grated yam (とろろ木の子鍋) made with seven kinds of mushrooms to taste "EARTH," among other dishes. Guests can enjoy the meal while experiencing the richness of the earth. Each dish is prepared to bring out the natural flavor of the ingredients and to be gentle on the body.
About 40°C "HOT POOL" for Soaking in Warm Water
The HOT POOL can be enjoyed with a sensation like a spa or an open-air bath. In the HOT POOL, where the water temperature is kept at about 40°C, guests can enjoy floating meditation and pool exercise.
1. Floating Meditation

Guests lie on a "floating hammock" (水上ハンモック) on the water, which gives a weightless sensation, for deep relaxation. As they adjust their breathing to the swaying of the water's surface, they can feel tension ease and body and mind loosen.
2. Pool Exercise

In the 40 m-long infinity pool, enveloped in warm water, guests can do pool walking to loosen the body, as well as exercises that move the arms and legs using the buoyancy and resistance of the water. They can move the whole body while enjoying sensations unique to being in the water.
Sunset Time to Take a Breath While Watching the Sunset

At dusk, the surroundings are tinted orange and the sky and sea slowly change their look. After the sun goes down, there is also a dreamlike magic hour when the sky shifts to pale pink and purple. Watching the changing scenery, guests can breathe deeply and turn their attention to their feelings and the condition of their body that day. It is a calm moment away from the busyness of daily life.
Sauna and Outdoor Air Bathing for Immersing Yourself in a Quiet Forest

The sauna is decorated with art reminiscent of a jungle. The spacious room holds up to 10 people, and an adjoining outdoor air bathing area is surrounded by plants such as ferns and tree ferns (ヘゴ) that give a sense of negative ions. With eyes closed and ears tuned to the sound of leaves and wind, guests can experience a deep sense of being settled, as if immersed in a forest wrapped in silence.

Contrast Bathing to Regulate the Autonomic Nervous System

Contrast bathing is attracting attention as a way to regulate the autonomic nervous system. By alternating between warm and cold water, the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems are stimulated in good balance, which is said to promote circulation and help recovery from fatigue. The "SWEAT LODGE" has a 13°C cold plunge and a 41°C warm jacuzzi, where guests can regulate their condition while looking at a variety of plants.
Journaling to Write Out Your Thoughts

Journaling is the practice of putting feelings and thoughts that come to mind into words and writing them down. The guest rooms are equipped with pens and notebooks for journaling. While looking at nature and moving the pen across the notebook, guests can gradually sort out the thoughts and emotions that have built up in their minds.
Night Ritual to End the Day Under the Stars

After the sun sets, the night at BPC grows deeper in stillness. Stars gradually appear in the sky, until a starry sky fills the entire field of vision. Time spent under a night sky like a planetarium calms breathing and thoughts at the end of the day and slowly unwinds the heart.
Morning Yoga to Loosen the Body

Yoga mats are provided in the guest rooms. After waking up, guests can spread the mat wherever they like, such as in the room or on the terrace, and move the body slowly while focusing on their breathing. It is a way to start the day lightly while sensing the presence of nature.
Smoothie Bar to Enjoy Through Your Stay

In the lobby lounge, a winter-only smoothie bar developed with the blender brand Vitamix is available. Three kinds of smoothies, blended mainly from ingredients produced in Chiba Prefecture, are served to match the time of the stay.
- On arrival (1:00 PM to 5:00 PM): A fresh smoothie served at check-in. It charges a body tired from a long trip with vitamins and moisture, and lightly starts the stay.
- Before bed (5:00 PM to 10:00 PM): A detox smoothie that accompanies the end of the day. Fragrant herbs and vegetables offer a relaxing moment that leads to quality sleep.
- On waking (6:00 AM to 11:00 AM): A refreshing smoothie for the morning. Blended with natural sweetness and a moderate amount of carbohydrates and vitamins, it delivers energy throughout the body to start the day with a pleasant stimulus.
Morning Salad Buffet to Choose According to Your Condition

For the breakfast of overnight guests, a salad buffet (free of charge) with about 20 kinds of deli items and vegetables is available. Guests can choose as much as they like of whatever they like, to match their mood and condition that day, and put together their own plate.
Other Events
Various other wellness events and content are also planned. They include a Pilates event with the Pilates studio "Pilates Studio eleven" on Sunday, November 15, and an exercise event with "Bala" on Sunday, November 29.
