At the foot of Mount Fuji, on the shore of Lake Tanuki, Kyukamura Fuji is a resort hotel where every room has views of Mount Fuji and the lake. From autumn to winter the air is clear and Mount Fuji looks especially beautiful. "Moonlight Fuji" (ムーンライト富士), with the mountain lit only by moonlight, and "Pearl Fuji" (パール富士), when the full moon lines up with the summit, are recommended from around late October to around February.
Mount Fuji's Ever-Changing Expression
The sight of Mount Fuji's ridgeline lit by moonlight, together with the shimmering moonlight reflected on the lake surface, is strikingly beautiful. It is a view that belongs to Kyukamura Fuji, located on the west side of Lake Tanuki.
From late October to around February, when the air is clear and the moon looks especially beautiful, the "Pearl Fuji" can sometimes be seen on full-moon nights, with the moon overlapping the summit of Mount Fuji. Unlike the sun, the moonrise, moonset, and position of the full moon fall on different dates each year, so it is hard to predict when and at what time it can be seen. Many visitors come back again and again to try to capture it on camera.
In the clear winter air, this romantic view can be enjoyed not only from the guest rooms but also from the hot spring baths, the restaurant, and the lakeside wooden deck "Fugaku Terrace" (富岳テラス).
Mount Fuji Blessings Buffet
The "Mount Fuji Blessings Buffet" (富士山恵みのビュッフェ) features nigiri sushi and sashimi made with seafood delivered directly from Numazu Port, along with colorful dishes of local vegetables. At the open kitchen, chefs make sushi on the spot using seafood delivered directly from Numazu Port, and tempura is served freshly fried. Also recommended are trout from local Fujinomiya, "Beni-Fuji nigiri" (紅富士握り), and the "Suruga-don" (駿河丼), a Shizuoka specialty topped with raw sakura shrimp and shirasu (whitebait).
