Katsuyama Tourism & Community Development Co., Ltd. (located in Katsuyama City, Fukui Prefecture; CEO: Kazuhiko Miyatsuka, commonly known as "Katsuyama DMO") is opening a new produce market called "Katsuyama Produce Market" to support the future of local agricultural products. On Friday, November 7, 2025, the market will have its grand opening alongside the attached café "CAFE MOOI Veggies & Sweets" (commonly known as "CAFE MOOI").
The project aims to maintain a stable supply system for fresh Katsuyama-grown produce and preserve the production area. It represents Katsuyama DMO's first initiative connecting local farmers, businesses, and tourists through a "food circulation" system. It is rare nationwide for a DMO to be involved in operating a produce market.
Katsuyama Produce Market Overview
"Katsuyama Produce Market" is newly established as a B2B hub for stably supplying fresh produce centered on Katsuyama-grown items. The building was developed with subsidies from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and Katsuyama City, with all business operations, management, and funding undertaken by Katsuyama DMO.
The building contains two functional sections: a "produce market" area and a "dining" area. In addition to collecting, selling, and delivering produce, the market will work on collaboration with the adjacent "roadside station," developing new sales destinations, and developing products utilizing local food ingredients. By accepting shipments and shippers from throughout Katsuyama and outside the city, the market expects to expand handling volumes more than before and support the sustainable development of regional agriculture.
Overview:
- Address: 1-21-4 Matsugasaki, Arado-cho, Katsuyama City, Fukui Prefecture
- Note: Adjacent to the roadside station "Dinosaur Valley Katsuyama"
CAFE MOOI Veggies & Sweets Overview
Opening adjacent to the market, "CAFE MOOI Veggies & Sweets" is a relaxing space where citizens and tourists can casually drop by. The name "Mooi" included in the café's name means "beautiful" and "wonderful" in Dutch. It was named to express the "beauty" of Katsuyama's nature-rich scenery and colorful vegetables and fruits, with the desire to provide time where people can feel "delicious" and "fun."

The café will offer menu items using seasonal vegetables handled by the market, such as salads, sandwiches, pancakes, and tarts. By linking the produce market and café, it will function as a "regional food circulation hub" integrating "from production to consumption."
